To me, NASCAR tries to balance competition, as does Indy. They keep costs down with minimal brands involved. Net, the top drivers come to the top.As someone who neither follows nor knows much about racing, i have a question: why is it that nascar, at least for s time, far surpassed f1 in popularity? Just to my uninformed eyes, it seems like f1 is superior in every way.
F1 to me is who can develop the best technology & limit its spread by limiting the number of entries per brand to two. So the best technology often beats the best drivers. With all the brands, costs are astronomical & I don't think there's a limit on what brands can spend. I.e., you can buy victories.
It's the difference in team sports between salary caps - NFL, NBA, NHL - where different teams prevail over time vs. MLB where a few teams dominate for decades. I mean what's the odds KC or Eagles win Super Bowl in five years vs. Dodgers and Yankees winning World Series then?
I'd like to see a F1 season where every driver drove the same brand each race but they switched brands each race.
