He said it was very close which certainly allows room for a change based on poor performance in the first game. If I was Greg, I personally wouldn’t want Lonergan anywhere near the field against BC after this loss even if he hadn’t turned the ball over so much. We have enough story lines now and don’t need for Lonergan to be going up against his old team.
He said it was close and he also said once he made his decision that was it and there would be no QB controversy.

the it was close was lip service and obvious or wait that long.

At the end of the day he’s an awful head coach. Each day he shows why he is completely incompetent

Yes - that’s true. He did say he was going to give the QB who won room to grow in the position. But 4 turnovers in one game is a lot and there were 2-3 more that should’ve been picked off. And again - it was UMass. I don’t think the possibility of losing this particular game occurred to Greg.

In all of sports, quarterback may be the position where practice performance is least indicative of game performance.
To be fair, Lonergan only threw 5 picks last year in an entire season in live game action at BC but had 3 yesterday.

Oh it was bad but it was Greg’s decision and he looks like a bigger idiot if he makes a change and looses his locker room even more!
Can’t wait for him to be gone

KS is right. Will be interesting to see how he plays it. DL seemed the furthest thing from a guy who is cool under pressure so the last thing I’d think we’d want would be him playing against his old team who shipped him off. Seems like Greg will have to cook up an injury.

Hopefully Lonergan can’t go and there’s no drama in the decision. 70% of the snaps should target KJ. 20% (one in 5 snaps can be handoffs just to give KJ a break). Mix in a couple other things here and there to keep D honest. Simplify the pay book when you have a star like KJ. That’s it

With Lonergan getting hurt st the end of the UMass game, he has a valid excuse for starting AJ.
BC knows Lonergan and his weaknesses. It makes no sense to start Lonergan.

Remember Greg said he is going to stand by his starter. Will be interesting to see if he reverts to old Greg, yanking his starter when he stumbles, or stubbornly stands by his choice. Quite the conundrum for Greg. But the answer is clear.
Given how the OL played, doubt Lonergan makes it alive before the half against USC. They are going to pummel him. Surace better be ready.

I did not see the game, but did see highlights. Lonergan looked to be passing well in the beginning. Later in the game,
when the pressure was on, he didn't do as well. He looked flat-footed to me - I saw barely any movement from him. I immediately noticed a difference in mobility when Surace came in. Again, this is based on the limited number of plays shown in the highlights. Am I wrong?

If there is one thing we can be certain of, it’s that Greg will stick to his QB pick no matter how obvious it is that a change is needed. I don’t think we are at that point yet - I actually have a little hope at that position either way. I hope they have some packages each game for AJ. He’s a baller who gives it everything he has.

So interesting to see the GS will stick with a qb no matter what storyline and then at the same time equally see posts that he gives the hook too quick historically. Guess boards are always going to be knee jerk.

Would not be surprised to hear of Lonergan injury and that he will be available if needed as the way things go so AJ can be given tjhe shot to execute in a run heavy manager role.

Sorry to hear Dylan is injured still, but glad my comment wasn't immediately disproven lol.
Hope Dylan recovers and gets to play again when needed or called upon.
However, have seen Ashenfelder in action, and he is impressive too.
