This is great! This either dispells the rumors that Freeman was a discipline problem last year or he has really grown up.

Whatever the problems were in the past, they are clearly in the rear view mirror.
This is great to hear!

This is quite a turn of events given what was insinuated about him on the boards last year

did he gain an extra year due to injuries he had last year, or is this his last season? I thought I read some time ago that RU was going to petition for an extra year...

He has two years left and this is a great indication of the new staff working on developing players and a credit to Deshawn for buying in to the coaching.

It takes pressure off the guards to be asked to score and lead and the emphasis is in toughness and rebounding. ..It also requires Freeman to be accountable for not just himself but to learn how to lead.

These are learning curves for the staff and what appears to be the entire culture. I don't know if it translates into RU becoming a top defensive team overnight but it's a good sign that the staff asked one of the players most likely to get the tough rebounds to be the captain.

This will be a gradual change but necessary to make RU competitive on defense first. Freeman and Sa will be a good combo of dirty work inside for the staff to lean on.
