"Ty Berry is down to a final two of Minnesota and Northwestern. The Wildcats are in the best spot for his pledge, which would give Chris Collins a well-rounded and confident shot-maker in the backcourt."

I can't believe ANYBODY would go play for that pud of mediocrity in Minneapolis.

I’m not a huge fan of Little Pittino either. But objectively he’s been fairly successful, hasn’t he?

This would be a great get. Not a position of need, but beggars can’t be choosers. Looks like prognosticators are high on NU here.

When you just have 9 scholarship players, isn't EVERY position a position of need?

That would be exciting! Athletic guards are always great to have - especially if he can hit shots.

I'm sorry, but I vote no. And yes, I'm trying to do it objectively even though he's a daddy's-boy, pouting, never-knows-when-to-shut-the-f-up d-bag. :)

40-70 in six years in the conference. Two tourney bids. One NIT championship (if we care). One year above .500 in the conference and three years above 8th place.

I don't mean to turn this into a comparison, but let's put it this way: He and Collins have the same record in the conference.

Minnesota has some history and good support. You gotta do better there.

Man, if a few guys commit soon, we could have a Berry Goode class...

Sorry.....

Yeah, you’re right. I didn’t realize how poor his conference record actually was. I guess he and Collins’ are historically way closer than I realized.

I would be pumped if we got Berry. He’d be the highest rated ball-handler (PG or CG) commit we’ve gotten in the recruiting rankings era (not counting Lathon)

Unless most of the nine are SG / wing types... I think we need a PG and a BIG. Nance and Beran seem destined to play below their height. We have unknown quantities in Young and Jones. Greer is not storming any barns and Buie looks like he has potential - but that was in Europe. And besides, multiple LG in the PG mold is good business.

But, with zero commits, the class getting late in the cycle and lots of spots to fill, I would be ecstatic to land a 4* at any position other than waterboy.

i think the cats are sitting in great shape with him. also hearing good things about adding another 2020 target. that would leave 3 ships for 2021.

One domino has fallen. One still coming. 2020 recruiting about to be wrapped up. But NU has no commits. It's late in the cycle. blah blah blah. This board is fun!

Not disagreeing - but this was not NUs first choice for big men. There are three more schollies available. And we know the next domino won’t be from the A list either.

Glad we won’t be recruiting from intermurals but hope these guys are quality B1G players.

NU targeted 3 big men - and they got one of them. That is hardly "settling", and while perhaps not the top choice, he is still one of the players they circled and wanted given the opportunity to add him. while there are examples to go the other way, this kid has a similar ranking to pardon and gaines so ill wait to pass judgement.

also the next domino will be from the "a-list" as you call it, and the top choice they targeted outside of DJ. so sit back and enjoy the ride.

i guess we just go from complaining about being late in the class to no commits to complaining about them not being good enough o_O:eek::confused::mad:

Not at all. I was really excited about Bam in the backcourt. Glad to hear this guy will be better!

I was looking at players with NU offers who would make a splash and the only name out there with a reported offer is Adam Miller. Do I dare to dream this big?

I'm guessing its Berry who is a 4 star lead guard. Sounds nice to me.

Though picking up a 6-11 guy with a game 12 feet and in seems to wreck the positionless basketball offense being proposed in another thread.

haywood is indicating it’s a Berry +1 situation. I thought the a-list was referring to the +1 but on re reading the tea leaves it seems Berry fits the plus one.

He moves really well for a 7 footer. The tape shows a good deal of athleticism.

It does which is great to see. What it doesn't show, however, is him making a shot more than 1 foot away from the basket. He doesn't have to be a great 3 point shooter, but in the BIG, he needs to be able to keep the opposing center honest.

shows some nice touch.

about 0:54 in shows a little midrange jumper.

Great get for NU, IMO.

I don't know why but he kind of reminds me of a taller Gavin Skelly. Which is not a bad thing. Impossible to judge his game from highlight films, but he isn't going to be a dunking machine on B1G bigs, will need some post moves if he is a real Center. Probably will need a red shirt year to put on some muscle unless he fills out his Senior season.

Happy to see his commitment.

Man, that would be awesome to be able to red-shirt young guys. We don't have one and done's, so I have long thought red-shirting would make a big difference in develop. I think Greer would be very well served to sit a year and fall back to his age group. Mac probably excelled due to his advanced age.

But we have four open seats for next year. That leaves nine schollies to play. Even though most teams go with 8 or 9 man rotations, that leaves no room for injuries and other disqualifiers - let alone competition for PT.

Haywood says we have one more - I assume that means we will see more inbound transfers. I sure we don't see anymore outbound transfers.

I wonder if Nance gets passed by Beran and squeezed out of the starting lineup going into 20-21, will he look for greener pastures...

There is room on the court for Nance and Beran. Neither of those guys are squeezing each other out. I hope they are the stars of this team, if not this year, than next.

Man, there's some wicked wild speculation........from what I saw in France and Italy Pete has little to fear from Beran.

You crack me up though!!!!!!

I had stopped worrying about transfers until last year. Except RI, none of the recent ones meant much. Then the massive walkout last year has given me the yips.

Shack ONeil wasn't able to shoot from more than 3 feet away either!
