Some enterprising sports radio talker in Omaha should have a memorial show reading the excited tweets posted by Husker boosters the day Frost was hired.
He really seemed like the best possible hire for Nebraska at the time. There is a good sports novel in there somewhere.

Frost absolutely should have been given another week. I can absolutely guarantee he would NOT have lost a close game to Oklahoma.
Bob Devaney, Osborne, Solich and Pelini never had a losing season. That covers a ~50 year stretch.
Frost never had a winning record.
Can't blame the Huskers for expecting more.
I would think Matt Campbell would be high on their list and a sleeper might be Pat Narduzzi of Pitt.
Campbell has done a good job at a school that does not make recruiting easy.
If Chris Petersonn deceided to come out from retirement, he would be an excellent candidate - he was awesome at Boise State, another place where it's difficult to recruit.

The best hire for them is not being mentioned and it's not even close. They are talking about Urban Meyer, Bill Obrien, etcc.
I think it's Gary Patterson, the guy who basically "made" TCU and who is not out of work (and probably regrets retiring).

Patterson was pushed out. He couldn’t win in a major conference. That said, it *is* a name that would excite, then disappoint, people.
I think the #1 absolute first thing Neb needs to prioritize is a coach who can use the talent already in the locker room, and/or someone who can wring every last bit of talent out of the portal immediately (see also: Mel Tucker)...certainly a more plausible challenge than it may have been even 2-3 years ago.
That school will implode if they bring someone in who needs 2-3 years to install their players, their systems, etc. The entire state will turn on itself while their 80,000 fans have nowhere to travel for the holidays and have to coexist...in Nebraska...together.
I also think the CFB community has made too much out of going gaga for sizzling hot coaches in the moment (like Frost was when they hired him). In hindsight, the dude had literally just one magical season with UCF, and the season before that (his first as head coach) he was 6-7. Matt Campbell's another one...he went 7-6 last year with a loss at the Cheez It Bowl.

I was referring to the period after Osborne regarding winning records and dismissing those two who were 58-19 & 67-27. In addition, I made no mention of Frostbite having a winning record
I read a book about Ara’s first year at Notre Dame. He came in, analyzed the talent, and then gave many players new positions. They were instantly good.
Never thought I would be asking this, but is Nebraska really a better job than Pitt? Do you think Narduzi would leave? He just had a QB go first round to the hometown NFL team which will repeatedly give Pitt great press. The ACC is just meh outside of Clemson so Pitt can always be in the mix for a conference championship. Plus, Pittsburgh is a fantastic university in town that is becoming a hub for science/tech and has really solid food/nightlife.
This criticism is wholly warranted. Frost has his guys in place — his transfer QB who was better than the guys he recruited, his transfers up and down the roster because he couldn’t recruit players. And he’s firmly planted Nebraska in the bottom of the conference.
I will forever use the adjective Frosty to describe not just lightly-iced surfaces, but also the confused/scared look coaches have when something goes wrong and they choose to bury their face in their playcard rather than greeting and instilling confidence in their players.
Come to think of it, frosty, as in the cold, disappointed, negative reaction by a crowd, also applies.
Because of this crime the Huskers must wander the football desert for 1000 years.

Doesn't membership of "The Rock" require you to pay for a glass of Koolaid that, once consumed, instantly bestows expertise in all athletic matters as well as the right to mock those who don't drink the Koolaid?
