Pay cut equals lower taxes, donation back to the university is a tax write off. Which one is better for the coach? I have no idea

Well I think the giveback will be 10% since that was the overall budget cut announced by Moos.
OWH article said Hoiberg will be owed $1 million bonus for staying at Nebraska another year on July 5. Wonder if that could be the donation?
