is there enough speed on the offense for HCSF to run his offense? Outside of Lindsey and Spielman?

Bradley, Wilbon possibly at RB
Not sure how fast McQuitty is but he should be good to have available
Joshua Moore says he is still coming
If we keep Cam Brown, that would be great

Guys on our team with some good speed, without Lindsey and Spielman:

Bradley
SMJr (if he returns)
Tre Bryant
Wilbon (might actually have holes to run through finally!)
Dylan Reynolds
Wyatt Mazour (this kid is going to be a stud in SF offense)
Joshua Moore (running track too, correct?)
Keyan Williams
McQuitty
Cameron Brown

The more I look at this list, the more I think SF keeps KW. Gut feeling.

Sidenote of importance: Because TGeb is so solid on Nebraska, it makes me think Tyjon stays and KJJ comes back to Lincoln IMO. Time will tell!

Wyatt will be dynamic as all hell in that offense

These aren't pro style offenses, they're used by high schools all over the country. Many of these players we have come from schools that ran similar systems. The offense works and doesn't require magic. The Oregon run game under Chip Kelly consisted of 4 run plays, not really an offense requiring that you learn 50 billion assignments just to get on to the field.

With that said I think we have some holes to fill but I don't think we're lacking the players to make it work. I'd prefer a more optimal QB and a speedy back (I think Bradley would fare well) but we've got some dangerous guys catching balls for us. I think they would shine in a spread option attack that is working well.

IF you get him (still holding out some hope) .... and it's anything like it was for us ... your offense will be rough the first year. We played great one game and went nowhere the next.

First 2 recruiting classes will be huge. Have to pull those boys from California and Florida for that speed.

What was the offensive scheme, and how bad was it in the 0-12 season?

Speaking of Scott's offense, there are 2 articles written by Rkay at Husker Chalktalk.com that give tremendous insight regarding the philosophy of Scott/Chip Kelley's offense. It sounds like its unstoppable if the read on the defense is right and you have some athletes in the right positions. Check it out if you like. The date on the articles is 10-22-17.

I suspect Tristan Gebbia will spend a good portion of winter break studying UCF film.

Stoll and Engelhaupt seem pretty athletic. You CAN throw to a TE in the spread too.

For what we have now kids that will DEFINITELY contribute:
Lindsay
Spielman
Joshua Moore
Cameron Brown

Possibly
McQuitty
Keyan Williams
Mazur
Sarbaugh (Omaha North)
Willbon- good lateral speed- not good high end

No Gos
Tre Bryant
Ozigbo
Bradley

At QB- Gebbia- There is a reason the kid always has long sleeves on- HES SKINNY. Can throw- but not enough durability and lateral speed for this Offense, great thrower though. POB- again ok thrower, not so good with the feet, not explosive, little lateral speed

There are a number of JUCO dual threats available- pretty highly rated going to places like UNC, TN, ECU that could be taken away, Frost had a kid at UCF that looks interested in Michigan State.

The real deal is we need to get some nasty, quick and hungry Olinemen in here ASAP. ( or build them very quickly) Inside Zone is still inside zone and we need to block it MUCH better than we do now. Even if we are able to soften the box with Rupos, zone read and zone speed option and formation/motion/key breakers and better play calling.

The idea of softening the box is so rupo when you run that style of offense.

I would like to add that RPOs are great at softening the box as well for the zone read-type plays.

Best coach ever:

Why exactly is Bradley a no go? Didn’t UCF offer him?

Sigh.. Remember that the kids Frost got Killings and Otis Anderson were kids FSU, Miami and UF didn't want. Like TOs offense Frost will be able to recruit to an specific skill set so this opens up to players across the country that fits the mold. You can find smallish players like that all over the country especially in FL, TX and CA..

Chip, Scott, and co. made a killing going down into places like Texas and pulling out fast, undersized athletes that fit their offense. Many of these guys weren’t 4-5 star players, but they did have a certain skill set.

I’ll never understand why people think the only speed comes from Cali and Florida. I went to hs with a kid that ran a 10.1 100 meter dash..here in Nebraska. He was from North Carolina. We don’t have to focus on any specific place. Just find speed and talent and go to it.

Danny Woodhead says hi. That said, there is no question that there are much larger numbers of BIG AND FAST players in the SE than there are in Nebraska.

I’m not arguing that. There’s more people in that part of the country. I’m just saying that there’s speed and size all over the country. We don’t have to focus on two states just to be successful

It's just easier to recruit where the largest number of those kinds of athletes are to be had. You can fly thousands of miles for a couple of visits or you can fly in to Florida and visit several in a day in a rental car. We'll recruit nationally no doubt but it is wise to try to be efficient in how you do it.

Disagree on Gebbia and Bradley. I think both will flourish in this offense.

That’s true. I’m definitely not saying we shouldn’t recruit those areas hard. I’m just saying we can get quality players in other parts of the country as well. If we pick up a couple Florida kids, awesome. Couple Cali kids, awesome. But if we don’t, I won’t be too worried.
