FSU checking out Taggart

Something many on this board have projected: FSU may target Taggart should Fisher go to A&M. I'm not sure that Taggart will bounce after one year or if Frost would be interested in Oregon, should the job come open...but let's hope Frost to Nebraska is truly a done deal so we don't have to worry about any other moving parts!

Jimbo still has a game Saturday. So he's not going to A&M before Sunday. Which means Taggart to FSU wouldn't happen until next week.

Frost will have to give us an answer by then, if he hasn't already. If he would rather go to Oregon than Nebraska, so be it. But he turned down the Ducks last year. If that was really his dream job, he would have been coaching them this year.

This is wild. FSU is vetting candidates in case Jimbo bails for aTm and Oregon is vetting candidates in case Jimbo bails for aTm and FSU chooses to hire Taggert. I hope this continues for like four or five more schools/coaches and then Jimbo changes his mind and stays at FSU. Then all these coaches have to go crawling back to their schools and pretend like they are happy to be there and never wanted to leave.

Everyone is expecting Jimbo to take the TAMU job. The only reason its not official is because the TAMU offer is not official until their BOR meets on Thursday to formally approve the contract.

I love Jimbo as he has done great things for FSU, but man...he looked burnt this year and with all the personal issues he is dealing with.....a change might be best for FSU and Jimbo.

The idea of anyone leaving FSU for aTm blows my mind, but things happen? Do you think FSU will hire Taggert?

Oregon is now offering him a new 5 year deal worth more than 20 million. I think he stays.
I don't know, he's a Florida a guy and it could be a long time before one of the big three Florida jobs comes open again.

You are a little too late to the party
First time I've ever been on your board, and I was just responding to the posts in this thread. We've been talking about Frost for a while over on Warchant.
It would come down to coming home, or taking a better job. His decision.
I think we end up with Taggart but Frost has to at least think about it.

Not sure that the two are mutually exclusive.....Scott IS coming home and HE thinks the Nebraska job is better than FSU.....just don't see him thinking about it at all.

Fair enough. I haven't monitored any news reports about him, so you would know more than I would. Hope you get him...if we don't :D

They are both icons of the sport. Very few of them around anymore.
And you guys have to understand, we haven't had to to a coaching search for 40 years.

Understand. Been there. Been there with the hand-picked Successor in Waiting. Been there with believing that we would never go wanting for wins or a coach. Been there with the belief that the success will never end. Been there with the belief that our facilities, fans, tradition cannot be beat so no one in their right mind would ever turn us down. I was 27 as I harbored those beliefs; I still want to believe that I am 27 when those beliefs came crashing down. You have been polite and deserve the same courtesy. I hate Miami to this day. I have found Gators (including my former business partner) insufferable. But I have always sort of liked the Seminoles except when they were beating the tar out of us or having William Floyd fumble on the 1-yard line.

Willie Taggart is no BB. As far as SF, despite all of the talk of him "coming home", to this day I believe that the draw is not the University itself but the fact that his parents are here as SF is very connected to his parents. But I too believe from all of the sources that SF is off of the market from further offers, which would indicate not that a deal is pending but that is a deal and has been done. SF is our "silent commit" that we pine about every year.

Best wishes in your search and in finding bowl eligibility this weekend.

I would love a home and home series with the Noles. It's been way too long since we've played each other.
