She doesn't want any type of bridal on her even though she is still a wild mustang. i could feel that she thought Dawn was holding her down.

When you watch her play so undisciplined against a well disciplined defense like UConn !! Not sure how you would get thru to her ? Dawn did try .

Extremely rare talent but she’s got to comprehend it’s a team sport at this level and one person cannot overcome an evenly talented team - it takes a team effort. When she was hot she was unstoppable but when she was off a she hurt the team.
I don’t think it is that big of a loss. Can she take Raven with her?

She's a real talent, no doubt. She brings a good spark off the bench. But she plays out of control at times. She's a starter somewhere, just not here.

Latson will make up for the loss in the short-term, but this is not good in the long run for the program. We get wild local support with our homegrown girls. The backbone of our program in many respects is that no homegrown talent leaves the state. Talaysia left and there have been some hard feelings locally about it. Now probably to a greater degree the rumblings will get a little louder with MiLaysia leaving. The narrative is already out there that Dawn won't let her guards play and that it results in uneven play. Just don't see how this is good for us long term. Hope I am wrong.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There's nothing positive about this. Not only is she dynamic, but she is a home girl. Some people will differ, but I ascribe this development- at least partially - to the capriciousness in how she was utilized. Thanks, Coach.

She's not consistent and has the most turnovers on the team. Unfortunately , she can't be trusted in big moments and she's a highlight hunter in crucial moments. Fans will come out regardless of if these players were all from Russia if we're winning championships.
The players that have the ball the most usually have the most turnovers in a basketball game. Further, you are acting like MiLaysia had the most turnovers on the team by far. MiLaysia only had 4 more turnovers on the season than Joyce and only 6 more than Sania. Want to kick Joyce off the team too? You can seek out the negative on the kid to put a positive spin on this, but this is bad especially long term. The days of us going into a South Carolina gym and just expecting to get the hometown kid just left the building. ....and we did it for a PG that shot 35% from the field last year. Wasn't worth it IMO.

Which currently we aren't. Last year got farther away today than it already was, the difference now being more weighty than an additional 24 hours.

Who said she was 'kicked off the team'? She made a choice. She was given ample opportunity to be a consistent contributor and it didn't work out, it happens. She'll fit it somewhere better than here. I'll miss seeing her play but if the goal is to win championships you have to have trustworthy players for that. I'll trust Dawn above any of our other coaches in our athletic department.

I watched it. She had two really bad turnovers in the National Championship game. You brush her off and let her learn and grow from. Not go out and get a replacement that we will probably turn into a 12 point a game scorer too. We can try to put a positive spin it, but MiLaysia wasn't on the court most times when our guards were reluctant to shoot or couldn't shoot. This kid bailed us out countless times when we couldn't score and all she asked was to start after patiently sitting the bench two years. We couldn't honor that. Come on man. This is bad all the way around and I am as big a Garnet Pumper as it gets.

Nah, they basically pushed her out. You can't expect a talent like that to sit in their junior year. That is crazy. Most coaches I know push the less talented senior out in this situation. Most coaches would have pushed out Raven because you probably get two years out MiLaysia. Then, you go out and get a PG if you don't trust MiLaysia. The girl was the 6th Women of the Year and our second leading scorer in 20 minutes and we are talking about it not working out. Nobody played well in the National Championship game. I guess we just need to get a new team.

Agreed I would have preferred Raven go but I'll still trust Dawn. She'll be missed for sure.

Up to the title game she was a highlight reel and the toast of the town, deservedly so. Her leaving is pretty bad all around.

When you watch Fulwiley play she does not seem to fit the conservative half court style of basketball. She needs to go where a team uses an up tempo fast paced type of basketball. If she goes to a team that plays like Carolina she will have the same problems.

I wonder if Dawn knew this was coming and that is why she grabbed Latson out of the portal.

For those talking about they wish Raven was the one to leave - she is a great leader on the court and best defender that we have on the team. I am very happy she has decided to return.

I also suspect Dawn is having to spread a lot of NIL money around. Fulwiley can go to another school and be a star and get a lot more NIL money that I think she can at USC.

I wish Fulwiley much success in her future and thank her for her contributions at USC.

Since when did we start playing conservative half-court basketball?

Losing Lay is not good! She provided an unexpected punch to the opponents with her style of play, and she’s just a straight baller—and she was ours. She has the best handles in WBB, bar none—and she was ours. You can’t duplicate what she does, and she should have been developed better. As much as I detest Skim Mulkey, she would let Mylay play.

Hate for her to leave, but two years in, you can’t continue to try and drive against the entire opposition over and over. One fantastic play, a three pointer, then 3 sloppy turnovers and a couple of missed crazy three pointers doesn’t equal sustained success. Never thought she would leave, but did think she would work hard and be a big consistent producer next year.

Oh well. I also thought Rivers several years ago showed potential to maybe Be the best in our history…..glad I was wrong

3 titles and 4 straight final fours says Dawn doesn’t care to let one players ego run the team

Maybe we should let the players run the team. If you fed her ego all season, you never make it to the title game. She was a missed shot turnover machine half the time. Her desire to make Sportcenter’s top ten almost cost us several games.

Hate she left, but not end of world stuff

You people are comical. A player leaving to be the focal point is not going to mean anything long term. Iowa had a star player…..won no titles.
Good luck Mylasia. Wish you would stay. But players come and go all the time everywhere

Projected starters next year were MF, Tessa, Raven, Kitts, Edwards. How is that pushing her out? Asking for a friend
