Basic passes and of course not blocking out on the ft line, injuries or not this is unacceptable. If you’re a D1 player, these type mistakes can’t happen. If we lose this game, this would be a terrible loss regardless of injuries. We’ve had control of this game on several occasions & made some real stupid plays.

@Wonky not sure why it's funny? He has maybe zero adjustments tonight. Continues to let two bigs do whatever they want. Laugh all you want, but tonight is on Pope.
You’re insane lol. He’s coaching a team without both PGs AND the emergency backup. Carr playing at about 34%. The clock struck midnight down the stretch. Unfortunate, but Pope is the reason it was even close. Cal loses this game by 50

There's only so many adjustments you can make when you're without your starting PG, backup PG, and third string PG. This game was well within reach and our guys just did stupid **** at the end of the game.
Who's job is it to work through these things? I love Pope and want him here for a long time. But, tonight he failed. Poor use of timeouts. Letting Garrison be a complete black hole.

His love fest tonight with Brea and Carr i just don’t get, they gave us nothing well Carr a little but AA was playing good it seemed.
Never seen a team that can’t grab the ball and miss point blank and 1s, never doubled Johnson and let him get 30. A lot of questionable and dumb plays on our end.
Just lost to junk team, and killed all momentum off the tenn win. Unbelievable

Yeah I can't believe Pope told Brea to shoot 0-4 from 3 and the team 5-23. Horrible coaching.
Brea and Oweh's play falls on them. Tonight, Pope's minutes distribution was wonky at best. Letting Garrison do whatever he wanted over and over is on coaching. There were adjustments to be made, and they didn't get made. I'm sorry so many people are hurt by that.

im inclined to say this off the top of my head

but I'm not surprised Texas got their marquee win against us.
Will it be enough to get them into the NCAA tournament ?

Vandy comes to town on Wednesday. Get ready.

Garrison only got 14 minutes and was third best on the team in +/-. Amari can't play the whole game.

Cry some more. It's hilarious that no one is allowed to question Pope.
Anyone can do as they please, but it has to make sense. He had to play Garrison. Williams was battling and needed rest. Carr is broke down (see what I did there). Despite us playing without anything remotely similar to a pg, he’s done a fantastic job and has made remarkable adjustments to keep games close and win some huge one.

What would you do differently?

So...you think Garrison played good?
He got the third fewest minutes tonight if you count Chandler. He barely played. Do you really expect Amari to be playing 30-35 minutes with how hard he's been playing?

I swear to god half this board doesn't realize guys need breathers.

Perry isn't a pg? What do you people not understand? I'm not anti Pope, I think he's done a great job this year. I just think he dropped the ball tonight. It's amazing how many people are so offended by that.

When he was in and touched the ball, it was either going to be a turnover or he wasn't gonna pass it back out at all. Give Williams breathers, absolutely. But, don't try to run everything through the worst player on the floor.

With the injuries, our talent level is worthy of a Billy G team. On one hand it’s great coaching to have the good wins with this group, but on the other the lack of defense and fundamentals are maddening.
That's why I've been so impressed this season. To build what he has with such limited time has been amazing. I just find it humorous that I've gotten attacked on here for calling out a poorly coached game. Far more times than not, Pope has done a tremendous job.

Lmao come on man. Perry is a combo guard and not fit to run an offense as a freshman. He is not a true PG and anyone that watched him in high school knows this. What are we not understanding? You’re not explaining anything. Just empty blame on the coach because Garrison played too much and Pope didn’t make adjustments lol. It’s a lazy take at best.

I honestly think you’re a very good poster. This doesn’t change that. I just think it’s a weak thing to say with no merit and wanted to see it backed up with some valid points. Pope has done everything he can with the hand he’s been dealt, so I just truly don’t understand what more HE could do.

Agree to disagree I suppose.

Who were we gonna play? Perry, Oweh, Noah, Almonor, and Williams cant play 40 minutes and not fall off a cliff production wise. If he had stuck with them like some of you people demand we'd have suffered like a 20-0 texas run at the 10 minute mark instead of the run at the 2 minute mark.
