… and hire Jeremy Pruitt.

UGa currently has the #1 & 2 overall rated recruits, the top 2 lb’ers, 10 recruits in top 100; and 18 in top 300!

Kirby needs to try his luck in NFL and UGA needs to hire Jeremy Pruitt.

Seriously, Smart is like a tick on a dog at UGa. Barring something crazy, he’ll spend another 15-20 yrs at Ga and become the modern day Bear Bryant. You know he wants to pass Saban, and do it in a hurry. He doesn’t seem to be kicking back. Coach O won his ring and went straight into party mode.

We have some nice commits but not quite that good, the LB from Bama if flipping to Bama or AU and be off our commit list by Friday

I know Smart and Co. are recruiting well nationally, but man, it has to be nice to have the wealth of in state talent to recruit from that they do.

GA: top 40 in-state kids are 4 or 5 star kids, top 90 are highest level 3 star or higher.
KY: 4 star x 1, no 3 stars even rated 5.7

Even with UK using Ohio as the "home range"
OH: 15 kids 4 star, only 27 kids 5.7 or better

Just crazy the amount of talent in GA.

I can see Smart retiring in Athens, especially when kids are beating down the door to go there. I’m not sure if we’re doing it or not but with the portal I’d like to see our staff recruiting the heck out of their commits because that level of recruit wants to play right away but they all can’t get on the field. With the expanded playoffs and the SEC it’s going to make it tougher to win NCs especially if we ever go to a nine game conference schedule but they’ll continue to be the nations team to beat.

Maybe. Maybe not. Saban has maintained Bama by being the perfect balance between a cheater and a disciplinarian. It’s amazing how he has kept those kids focused on football while providing them with cash, cars and women. That can go sideways quick. Georgia has been accused recently of covering up major issues as bad as sexual assault. The culture could fall off a cliff like it did at Florida St and Miami, A&M ect.. Those schools had success, lost their culture and are now irrelevant even tho they still recruit at a high level.

The state of Ga is loaded with great hs talent and has fewer big time colleges in the state. Fla and Tx both produce high number of good recruits, but have more competition.

Ga and Smart seem to be dialed in. Fla & Tx seem to keep fumbling the ball. Smart/Ga along with Saban/Ala shows what can happen when great coach ends up at a great program. Ga and Ala both fumbled around before their current coaches. Richt got close a few times, but never got over the hump.

If Smart is smart, he will keep up what he is doing and in about 5 more years of high level teams, retire and become Governor of Georgia. He could retire at the top of the game and really enjoy life the rest of the way.

You do realize the guy who did the accusing was fired and the AJC retracted the article for not having evidence don't you? But fans of other programs ignore the guy getting fired, for the 2nd time for making things up, and the newspaper retracting the article. Yes UGA has players who drink underage and drive too fast, do you think it's the only program that has those issues?

I don't see how he can maintain the pace he carries much longer than 5 years. He could get alot of votes, but 6 counties control Georgia elections and lots of fans from other programs who move to Georgia or attended 1 of 4-5 schools on the border that don't charge GA resident oos tuition. It's why so many kids leave the state.

You do realize in today’s America the press is for hire. That is the definition of a cover up. Press prints an article. UGA doesn’t like they put pressure on the paper to fire the guy n retract it. The paper receives a hefty check and the paper CEO is rewarded with gifts. It’s how it works today. We live 20 miles from Louisville where Tom Jurich at UofL ruled the press with an iron fist. Print anything he didn’t like and he would use his power to try and destroy you. Press pass was removed from everyone at that paper. He was dirty as hell and fired. The president was fired as well. They got caught. Louisville fell into irrelevance. Same as the schools I listed. I’m not saying it will happen at UGA. Just that it’s happened at many other places. If Kirby can keep all those 5 stars with cash to burn in line I applaud him.

You do realize in today’s America the press is for hire. That is the definition of tabloid journalism. Press tries to extort money or attention from someone by printing an article. Someone doesn’t like it and hopefully can afford to put legal pressure on the paper to fire the guy n retract it. The paper receives the clicks they were looking for to keep circulation/ad numbers up, and the paper CEO is rewarded with gifts. It’s how it works today.

We live 20 miles from Louisville where Tom Jurich at UofL ruled the press with an iron fist gained first by treating them to expensive dinners and other perks, but print anything he didn’t like and he would use his power to try and destroy you. Press pass was removed from everyone at that paper. He was dirty as hell and most of the press loved him and coddled him. They got caught eventually.
Louisville fell into temporary irrelevance. Same as the schools I listed. I’m not saying it will happen at UGA. Just that it’s happened at many other places. If Kirby can keep all those 5 stars with cash to burn in line I applaud him.

He could win 3 more titles in the next 5 years, but not having divisions in the SEC will make that easier some years and much harder in others.

Why would anyone want to be gov after all the good will he's generated for himself as coach? That's insane. He's too Smart to get into politics

Really more my way of owning the state or being the big dog of Georgia. If Smart was Smart he would after that 5 year period, relax and enjoy games with the fans, maybe do some local media stuff and such. He seems to be a down home guy.

Check out the GA state rankings this year. UGA has started recruiting nationally and the state has been raided. On 247 Raiola from AZ snd transferred to Buford is the only top 10 in state player committed and they have 5 top 20. On rivals 2 top 10 and 5 top 20. They aren't dominating instate recruiting.

I realize that every fanbase that reads anything negative about a team that isn't their's is taken as fact. Seems like this writer has a history of writing stories he can't back up. Just like the Louisville stories he was asked if he had the tapes as proof, he replied with a yes. And he lied again. Guy has been a hack his entire career, publishing opinions and half truths as fact. When you make an effort to go after on of the most popular people in the state, you better be prepared to backup your claims. Once again he couldn't. Once is a mistake, twice is a trait.

Just like a couple years ago when some frat kid accused some UK players of trying to start trouble at a party, which wasn't true. But on other fan base sites it was a UK culture thing. But if no one is talking about you it means you are irrelrvant.

I can't say I am not happy with the class we have committed, but not real excited that we aren't after instate kids harder. Raiola just moved into Georgia, one was committed and flipped to FSU, missed on one to CU and to UT. One likely headed to OSU, maybe 2. We barely offered 4 of the top 10 and didn't recruit them. I don't understand it, but hard to say it isn't working.

They have 10 recruits in the top 100 and are not dominating their state. That’s crazy.

I knew Smart expanded their recruiting base, but that’s still crazy.

This is 100% just my guess, but I think it shows that some top tier players want early playing time. Just my guess.

Tooche. Point taken. We all have biases. It makes us human. I am a person that I harbor the truth . If my program is promoting wrong doing and they are caught I want them out. I want to be proud of my program. Winning is great but not at the cost of compromising your ethics. If every tax accepting public university administrator adopted this belief these conversations would be moot.

This is what the real story is. 90% of college prospects come from 4 counties in the metro Atlanta. There is a huge population there that are first generation Georgians. They have no ties to the state other than jobs and many are alumni of other programs. Then there are the schools that are on the border of Georgia but in other states, Auburn, FSU are much closer to areas of Georgia than UGA. We have a huge Louisiana population that came and stayed after Katrina, but still LSU fans. We also have alot of people from Ohio. UGA has a shot at one uncommitted player left in top 10 in state, but he isnt a lock. I wish kids wanted to stay home but it's hard to argue when.recruiting is going like it is.

No they don't. They used to more so than now. Im not saying it isnt working. Im just saying the narrative that all in state players wont to go to UGA and they are dominating in state isnt true. They are still dominating. Lol

My point was more they don't really have to "dominate" instate recruiting from the standpoint of getting all of the top 10 players to still have a phenomenal class b/c there is SO MUCH talent in the state.

They can get a few 5 star or high 4 stars from out of state for the top end of their class, fill the rest with kids ranked in the top 60-70 instate and STILL have nothing but 4 star recruits. The depth of talent in the state is just incredible.

So, my point is really moreso about the ridiculous amount of high school talent in the state than whether or not UGA should be getting all of the top players and thus "dominating".

It doesn't excite me seeing things written about kids who have made some bad decisions. I sure made some when I was young that by sheer luck, or protecting hand, allowed me to get home and not hurt myself or someone else. I know UGA isn't full of choir boys, but this writer didn't write that RaRa Thomas w a s trying to be a decent quardian and not allowing his minor brother leave after midnight with his girlfriend and she claimed assauled her when she was the one assaulting him. Every program has a few kids who struggle making good decisions, luckily most don't cost someone their life.

I have always believed UGA could never leave the state and win big if it could sign 25 of top 35 every year, but that isn't the route Kirby has chosen. It stings with how hard it is to pull kids from Alabama or Louisana and see how easy it is for them to pull kids grom Georgia who seem to be lining up to leave.
