1. We should be ranked after this game.

2. Kopp was the obvious MVP today, but Buie is the guy who makes everything go. Last year we said we really needed Kopp to improve his shooting off the dribble since defenses can run him off the line without worry; but now he's showing how hard he worked on that phase of his game in the off-season.

3. After Indy I said Nance may be our best player, slightly over Buie---but after this game I think Buie is our leader, MVP and best player. When he has the ball good things happen, whether driving, shooting or creating. Not an elite athlete but incredibly nifty and savvy.

4. Ryan Young has the best post moves and footwork of any NU player I've seen since Esch. I love when he goes on one one, even if he missed a couple lay-ups--those will come.

5. Not sure why Buie can hit the highest degree of difficulty shots under pressure but can't seem to hit his FTs late in games. Oh well, he is still flat out fun to watch and the heart of this team.

6. Great to see Beran back and healthy. His size and athleticism help us in all phases, but would like to see the coaching staff try to get him in the flow of the offense. He hit 40% from 3 last year and would add yet another weapon that would be tough to defend.

7. Only frustrating aspect of the game was how OSU kept grabbing offensive rebounds even though we had the size advantage. They also got about 3 airballs directly into their hands for putbacks, but to their credit they has position.

8. Our defensive effort, communication and teamwork is outstanding. Our offensive flow is so much better than prior CC teams. I love the big guys at the top of the key to pass to cutters or hand-off to curling 3 pt shooters.

9. Top to bottom this team has more talent than the tourney team--though that team had a stronger starting 5 imo. This team looks very connected and like they really fight for each other.

10. Even though Audige single-handedly beat IU down the stretch and hit a huge 3 in this game, I have no confidence in his shot selection and limited confidence in his shot--he is a streaky shooter that is often shooting bricks. I hope he can settle into a rhythm and become more efficient and consistent over the season. I see Buie doing that this year compared to last year, hoping the same for Audige. (Oh but his block was beautiful and all is forgiven!)

Great game, fun team to watch. Still not sure how we survive the insane big ten schedule, but this is the only NU team I've seen other than the tourney team and maybe an early BC team with Vedran, Jitim, Hardy, Mo that I thought has comparable talent to most of the big ten.

Watch Nance play defense against #32. Then watch any other of our players do it. Beran also was a huge plus defensively I’m glad he was healthy enough to get min. I still don’t know who has quicker hands between berry and audige.

Kopp is very very good for us. Today he scored. Against MSU he did not but was smart enough to not end with a 3-15 stat line

Watching Audige, it’s pretty simple - when he passes the ball, good things happen (even for him). When he doesn’t, good things MIGHT happen, but just as often won’t.

Nice to see Young’s dunk today after I complained about him not dunking the other day. He’s still wonderful to watch under the basket, and I agree with the Esch reference above.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Boo is the best player on the team, but there’s a half dozen or so other players who can easily step up when called upon. It’s exciting!

PBJ...time to make the decision. You can do it! Your dream destination!

I've watched the last five games. I'm no BB expert that is for sure, but the most exciting thing for me about this team is that it seems like every game someone else is the person who made the game a win. It seems to me that makes NU really hard to prepared for. If you key on one or two players someone else takes over.

I liked that after he missed a few low-percentage 2s, Audige stopped shooting them but continued to pass and play great defense. Really good self-awareness.

Audige seems to add defensive value whenever he’s on the court, even when the value on offensive is, say, really negative. Not all streaky players can play one-way when the shots aren’t falling, but he seems to.

Audige’s late three caused me to giggle. (Gave NU the first late lead.)

I’ll take all the makes he gives NU.

The team that Audige saw from the bench last year is gone. Kopp can shoot off the dribble, Young is a legit threat down low while Berry and Beran have nice shots. The team strength is balanced scoring with Boo as a dual threat. Audige is one of 5 scorers on the floor and an important one but his handle and defense matters. We need his streak shooting. He is similar to Isiah Brown but taller and thus able to play the two guard. This team us fun to watch. Good Post and analysis. Miss today on rebounding but good teams find a way to win and NU did.

I think this is a key reason why we haven't been close to blown out of the gym yet this year. I guess this is...depth? Even today, down seven late in the game, I thought, "we can still win this!" Last year it would've been "how can we outscore them by seven in the last five minutes of the game? We can't even make a shot right now."

And where did those late shots come from today? Buie and Audige had killer threes. Audige's blocked shot led to a big basket by Kopp. Berry made three free throws on a foul on a three-pointer. Young made his usual tough inside moves. It was a team effort. And if one player is off (like Kopp against MSU or Beran being limited today and against IU), we don't have to throw in the towel wondering who will take the next shot.

As someone who has been watching NU for 30 years, I can only say that it's rare I've been this excited about an NU men's basketball team. That we could be ranked both men and women at the same time (and also in football) is something that has never happened before. Imagine how many AD candidates we have right now!

Audige seems like a real Jekyll and Hyde type of player. I am thinking that a year off, after a year in the colonial league, has made it tougher to adjust to Big Ten play. I think he will eliminate some of the bad decisions. But he certainly seems to deliver in crunch time, and we have not had a player like that in a while it seems.
