Sure looked like a team built to handle a rough schedule to me.
I hope they keep talking. And i bet they will. Theyll talk about this all year because even in an exhibition i guarantee this is the game they wanted more than any other on their schedule. @rupp is the game everyone circles. It’s why they usually all play out of their minds here.

I've always seen Jasper as a one and done possibility but I don't see it for Moreno...the NBA just isn't that into traditional big guys in the lottery right now.
Lot of encouraging things in tonight’s practice. Yes, practice. This year we can play defense. Last year we wanted to but couldn’t. We have some guys that realize you can’t outrun a pass. Ball handing was sloppy but then again, it was practice. We have guys that have a nose for rebounding.
Am I giddy with excitement? No. Purdue will be 30 pts better by March. Do I think this may be our best team since 2015? Yeah….. could be.

No, Braden is a wizard. He has the ball on a string. We went for a couple pump fakes early, but once that was cleaned up, we mostly kept him in check. He is legit, but we were just better.
Our guys played to win. And that's what loved most.

I never buy into the summer talk until I see us against another team, but that one hit different. If these kids keep buying into Pope’s system and play with that kind of chemistry, we might just be headed back to the promised land.

Amari was draft in #46 player five years college basketball, he does not have any modern offensive skill.
Moreno is younger, and bigger, he has better touch around basket, he definitely has potential to be first round pick
When these things are played it's kind of odd because I feel like there's a widening of people putting too much stock into this and then people not putting enough stock in this.
Like on one hand, even when we played the cupcakes in preseason, you could still gain information about the strength of the team. Look at the exhibition games in 2012. Look at the exhibition games in 2015. You could instantly tell what type of teams those were despite playing awful competition.
So what do you take form this? You take that this is a pretty talented team. That means something. So many seasons we go into, we don't really know. This team was given a 9 preseason ranking and for one night most certainly lived up to that ranking.
For the ones putting too much stock into it, realize it was just one game. One in whcih doesn't even count in the standings or seeding.
Best to take the middle ground here lol.

I agree about first round, just not lottery. With NIL the money is about as good being a late first round pick and nobody wants to go in the 2nd round; much better to be a free agent. So I'd expect Moreno to return. Garrison will be back if Pope wants him back($).

If Moreno really gets guarantee from 20-30 range, not sure if Pope will persuade him back or persuade him to NBA.
Pope has no first round guy before so don't know how Pope will deal with this kind of situation
But yes there is still needs to this kind of big, probably in late first round or early second round.
Moreno is the kind of prospect that would have been a lottery pick 20 years ago but now probably late first. But if I'm somebody like Moreno I would not want to take the chance of slipping into the 2nd round and being locked into 2nd round pay for 4 years, especially since the NIL for him would at least be comparable for next year. Just how I'd look at it.
