Game grades

Based on my depressed state and amateur viewing:
.Fitz: F for not having a team ready at the beginning and for keeping Jon
.Hilinski: B would be higher if not for the interception
.HULL: A would have been a plus plus if it wasn't for the fumble. By far the best player on the team
.O line:
-pass protect B even skoronski was beat a couple times
-Run block; D looks like we average about 2 yards a carry
.WR: hard to grade had some good catches, drop some balls, didn't get much separation
.Gordon: A not sure if he did well on pass protection but boy some incredible catches need to use this guy a lot more
Dline: D
LB
DB: C

Five hot takes:

1. Bowl game is still on the table, but so is another 3-9.
2. Hilinski is who we think he is. Throws some really nice mid-long range balls and also throws a lot of shaky balls and can't run. We don't have a deep threat at WR so his deep ball is irrelevant.
3. Our LBs are not great. I don't think Wendell Davis saw the field, so probably not an upgrade. There's no help coming. If this team is going to make a run at a bowl game, I think it'll be the offense coming together.
4. D-line is... Still a question mark. Marty Long, please, clean this up.
5. Hull is fantastic and absolutely underrated. I know, he fumbled at the end. But he carried this team for long stretches and I think he deserves more recognition than he gets.

Hull Gordon Hilinski carried the offense.

WRs came on a bit at the end. Washington and Navarro.

Porter non factor.

Defense not much good. A few good, athletic plays at DB and DL. LBs absent. DBs short handed and young guys showed flashes

I think Duke should have just pounded the ball they averaged almost 10 yards a carry. Did us a favor passing.

We again don't have a kicker and who knows if the guy has bubonic plague or what.

Hilinski brought us back in that game with passing. Fitting the ball in very tight openings when the D knew we were passing. He gave us a chance to win and that’s all we can ask. Defensive slow start lost us that game
