Well where in the world am I supposed to find them if’n they ain’t showing at the movie house?
I really like Bateman, especially in Ozark, but talk about becoming one-dimensional. He's the same character in everything, it seems. But hey, it works.
This looked like a typical Hollywood cash-in.. but sounds like it might be pretty good.
Famous name + not being hooked on crack/heroin/bathsalts + not gaining weight + not being crazy = long career.I honestly can't even figure out what made his career take back off.
Of course you have some try to branch out and do other stuff like Jim Carey, but he won't be remembered for it.
The guy is a loon, but some of his “branching out” roles have been pretty damn good and will most definetely be remembered.
Man on the Moon, Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
You may be right, but Jim Carrey is not your best example. Kids movies, various comedies, family movies, Christmas movies, thrillers, dramas. That dude is pretty well rounded... or, at least tries to be.
Is he due a 'comeback' role at some point. He really hasn't done much widely released stuff since Dumb and Dumber To(o).You may be right, but Jim Carrey is not your best example. The Truman Show wasn't that much of a branch out in my opinion. I think I have seen Man on the Moon once and didn't care for it enough to want to watch it again. Maybe because I didn't like Andy Kaufman at all. I don't even think I've seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I'm a big fan of his and those 3 movies are probably near the bottom of my list of his movies that I have seen or just didn't care to. I still stick by what I said on movies of his that will be remembered in 20 years.
Being one dimensional is what makes most celebrities good at what they do. Especially in the comedy genre. Of course you have some try to branch out and do other stuff like Jim Carrey, but he won't be remembered for it.
I'm actually a big fan of Jason Bateman. He had a so so career early on made up of TV shows and a few movies like Teen Wolf Too back in the 80's and seemed to disappear during the 90's. He had a big resurgence though starting in the early to mid 2000's. I honestly can't even figure out what made his career take back off. I don't really see a certain role in a movie that did it. Most actors are known for a specific role that boosted their career, but I honestly don't know what his would be.
Just a WAG but...Arrested Development? Perhaps.
