Where does Pope go for advice? To Coach Fox , Pitino ?
He is currently so concerned about his lack of offense and team cohesion that him and staff are not preparing well enough for games based on opponents. In addition him and staff recruiting and players social media and media interactions are subpar.
Pope needs to start delegating and they need to start winning so he can buy time.
First two games in SEC game preparation and opposing team scouting was horrible. I’ve seen this pattern last year too.
I am not sure what their weekly cycle between games is but something is not working. Not sure if it is him not delegating or the feedback not being good enough or the time allocation between developing team and preparing team for opponents should be changed…..
We don’t have a game winning play if we need a 2 or 3 pts scored. Our end line offensive inbounding schemes are so bad that against Missouri , we were sending Lowe deep back court like a wide receiver just so we don’t turn the ball over. The inbounds after opponents made a basket are not better either…
After Indiana win Pope credited Fox for scouting . Not sure who is scouting the remaining SEC schedule opponents but something needs to improve on that front too and fast. We can’t be still searching for line ups in middle of SEC.
we recruited and paying all these players , let’s use them. This team is not a half court offensive team. If you have to run platoons and play fast pace , create turnovers, pick them up full court all game long , let’s do it. If we have players issues, build the platoons with players that like and work well together. In time that could build team cohesion inside the platoons.
if we continue like this, we are going to lose players to transfer portal that we want to keep and develop and next year we will have to reload in portal and have a worse team.
