Champaigne is a beast. 31 points, 14 boards, 5 blocks and just 1 PF in 39 minutes against Duke. What a player.
There are always teams that, for one reason or another, we end up keeping an eye on. For you it might be you live in ACC country, for me it was our loss against Pitt. Like you I keep an eye on them. Never thought they were bottom of the ACC, but did not think they were top either. Thought they'd end up middle and miss the tourney. While next year having a good chance at making it.
Toney and Johnson are Juniors. And Champagnie is a Sophomore. They are in a good place!
Feels good to see Duke this year
Living in Wake Forest's home town, I revel in the (relatively few) times Duke gets beat. The Deac fans hate Duke. I find it hard to consider Pitt, Syracuse, BC etc. true ACC teams. I first lived in NC in '79, and remember when Duke fans wanted to run off that Yankee Coach K after a rough couple of years.......
Pitt should be in the Big 10. I would trade them for Nebraska in a heartbeat. They wold be natural rivals with Penn State and would be a great addition athletically AND academically. A top medical school and excellent undergrad science programs.
Just about basketball fan outside of Duke hates Duke. They've certainly been a great program, but have become increasingly arrogant over the years as dynasty programs tend to do. I soured on Coach K somewhat a few years back when he had a back injury and missed most of a season, so there was an interim coach. Duke was down that season and had a bad record. Coach K reportedly made a point of ensuring that Duke's losing record that season was assigned to his substitute and not himself.
