Buie: first frosh in memory (since Geno?) that has a true scorers mentality and feel. He’s the kinda kid who ends up mid-major and you wonder where he came from.

Nance: same story, tons of talent, flashes of brilliance, but not quite there yet. But he can be a man among boys and has NBA potential.

Kopp: looked off, offense is clunky needs to be totally in rhythm to score. But still a nice piece.

Beran: see Nance above, maybe prettier stroke and a little shorter, but a year behind in experience and muscle.

Spencer: Tough and athletic but not quick enough for big ten PGs. He may be better as a 2 guard to help Buie with ballhandling and take open 3s or occasionally cut to the basket as he has serious strengths and hops.

Ryan: fun to watch Mr. Fundamental wonder how he’s going to improve much but excited to see it. Still a pleasant surprise.

Gaines. Played with a bit of his old moxy. Winston is a tough one, all-American and wily as hell.

Taylor: hit a 3!

Nance needs to be more aggressive. For long stretches of the game he doesn't have any offensive activity just passes the ball around. Then from out of nowhere he make some interesting drives to the basket and good turnaround jump shots. He needs to just play consistently with aggression and confidence.

Nance's offensive development is going to be really interesting to watch. Right now he wants to score the majority of his points from 3 and only occasionally works 15 feet and in. He needs to invert his offensive game to become a truly impactful player. When/if he develops the strength, skill, and mindset to consistently abuse his man around the basket he's going to be a very tough cover. He's certainly showing signs, though. What we're seeing right now is a far cry from the player who had a six-inch height advantage but looked helpless on a post-up against Brad Underwood's kid against Illinois last year.

Buie's development compared to early in the season is pretty remarkable. You have to have someone who can make tough shots to win in the B1G and he's showing he can do that.

I agree I'd like to see Nance play more aggressive. That said he's nearly 7 feet tall and dealing with very quick defenders, so he may not have confidence he can drive on guys without turning the ball over a lot. His skills off the dribble haven't caught up to his size and he looks comfortable shooting from the outside. We have to be willing to deal with a lot of mistakes if we want him to play aggressive--which I am.
