Then you don’t understand how the coach sets priorities for an offense.
My point is that Young has gotten the ball on that post many many times, which leads me to believe it is a priority in our offense. Greer just couldn't make the play.

Forget this game. It’s done. It was not the hot 3 pt shooting that gave it away. It was not lack of offense. It was being down 15-4 because we could not get defensive rebounds and we had no plan for Murray.

If I had it to do all over again, I would pick attending Northwestern 1000 times out of 1000, but man... what it must be like to have your alma mater actually have a good basketball team. That would be so much fun.
You have UConn. That should give you a taste, at least.

Dude there are not many simpler things in basketball than a bounce pass

I'm not watching as I'm working but 47 points in 15 minutes tells me that our defense is absolutely abysmal.

I'll root for UConn, but you only have one alma mater. It just isn't the same.

Plus, I'm not on the undergraduate campus, so I have never really developed much of a connection with that team.

How can you guys defend Collins when our gameplan was "do the same thing as last time" after we got slaughtered?

He put the same 5 out there and it was totally predictable that we'd be down right away. Beran and Nance got abused last time on the boards. Exact same thing happened today.

Iowa on pace to set a 3 point shooting record in this game - they have 9 with 23 minutes to play.

I don't see anyone on here defending Collins. I hope he's the coach of NU for only another 23 minutes. But the players stink today and have for much of the year. They play dumb and at some point they have to bear some of the responsibility for that.

Who are you talking to? No one has defended Collins for weeks now. We're just all as tired of your repetition as we are of CCC's repetition.

In basketball (NOT football), I would probably cheer for UTEP over NU were they to meet (in a normal season). I grew up in El Paso, so UTEP was my hometown team, and I have a master's (in EE) from UTEP, so they technically qualify as a second alma mater.

Give it a rest man. You act like we’d be a Final Four team if we had a different coach. I’m not even the biggest Collins supporter, but acting like he’s the only problem is a joke.
Of course CC is not the only problem.

But is there any excuse, for any team in this league, to be down 33 at half time?

Actually, has any team been down this much at the 1/2 this season? Heck, at the end of the game? This is an embarrassment. It would have been an embarrassment in the Carmody days.

Iowa scored more in the 1st half than we're going to score the entire game. I haven't seen a half like this since Loyola Marymount in 1990.

Does the B1G have a mercy rule? We might be seeing the last game of the Collins era. Iowa is SO much better coached.

At some point you just have to admit something isn't working. If you can't get a team ready to play a conference tournament game and you give up 64....think about that... 64 points in a half then you have failed. Of course the players bear some of the responsibility but to be so embarrassingly inept is really unacceptable.

I think we all agree. He should be fired at half-time. But the argument is about the players. I feel it doesn't really matter much how you shuffle this deck of players. They will still lose. I don't agree that +/- numbers prove that different lineups would turn losses into wins. This team lacks skill and lacks basketball intelligence, which drives you crazy considering the stereotype of NU.

It doesn’t today. It does not mean it would not give us 1-3 more wins.

And I’ve stated it now many times, our principles and execution on little things is absurdly poor. That’s a lot more damaging. We’ve had time for those to be much much better: coaching

Anyone know who to contact to help contribute to the buyout? Happy to help if that's what it takes

Did anyone else hear the anecdote mentioned of Roper walking away and ignoring CC during the first timeout of the game? I was surprised to see him back in later on. A very fitting end to this season and, god-willing, CC's career here.

Let's hope Chase transfers since I don't think he could make a shot if his life depended on it especially a 2-pointer.

We have several guys who are effective halfcourt players.
Others play better when we're uptempo.

Audige is definitely not one of the halfcourt guys.
We had to go big, pound it inside, slow it down and guard the 3 point line.
We did none of that.

Should have been Nance and Young right out of the blocks with Buie and Greer in the backcourt. Berry or Roper the 5th guy.

At least if Iowa lights you up, you had a logical plan.

I did and my reaction was surprise we have not had more incidents like that before.

I know I’m being a bit of an a-hole today. But man am I worked up/pissed off

I don't disagree. I think Collins is a horrible strategizer and doesn't seem like a good teacher either.

Iowa is 11-16 from 3 point land in the first half. Call us the Washington Generals.

Certainly possible we have, but haven't had sideline reporters watching our huddles in other games.

I don't think we've had any evidence this year that the players don't like Collins. I don't think that anecdote is necessarily as damning as it may sound. Coaches yell at their players all the time as they walk away to the end of the bench. I doubt it means much.

(Important caveat..... despite my defense of Collins in this post, I still think he should be fired before the second half starts)

Iowa may hit 100 before the under 8 timeout.

Kinda' wish now that Nebraska had hit a three on that final possession last night. That win wasn't worth the embarrassment that has followed.

As horrible as this all sounds on the radio, Iowa is en fuego shooting. It looks like the Cats are going to score more points against the Iowa D than they did yesterday against Nebraska.

Iowa breaks the record for the most points in a single game in Big Ten tournament history!!
