I think we have plenty of evidence that CC prefers playing Roper. Berry just benefited from Julian's injury to start the season.
We should probably see Roper-Berry-Audige with a little more frequency. Just tough to find minutes in this backcourt.

Nothing matters if you don't win. This is what we see from Northwestern year after year. You have got to find a way to win these kind of games. Michigan is not better than us.

They were favored at home by 4.5, so they are at least 1.5 better, per Vegas.

Barney doing some Russ Westbrook stuff there. Emphatic board, one man break, dish for a transition three. Wow.

Buie is frustrating to watch. He swings from good to bad to good.

As bad as Juwaun is, he made the move to put Reed in which basically eliminated the small line up advantage we had.

Northwestern (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten) hits the road to play at Michigan (9-7, 3-2 Big Ten) at the Crisler Center at 11 am on BTN.

The Wildcats have been road warriors, they are 3-0 in true road games this season. The Wolverines have struggled so far this season, they are 2-4 in their last six games. Michigan should not be overlooked though, they remain extremely talented with junior center Hunter Dickinson and their underclassmen backcourt of Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin.
This team can’t give up more than 70 points if they want to win games.

They just don’t have the offensive juice most nights to keep up with a strong offensive team playing mostly pretty well like Michigan. They matched up wel with IU defensively and could really create problems but Michigan is built differently

Michigan made nearly half their 3 pointers, versus fewer than 30% for NU. That's the difference in the game. Hats off to Michigan for hitting those shots when they had the looks. A few more misses, and there may have been a different outcome.

We’ve posted variations of this message over and over for about 20 years now. It’s just another BIG10 loss for Northwestern.

Well basketball is mostly a game about making shots, and acquiring good looks in order to make those shots, so, yeah, the team that shoots a lot better than the other shot better today and won.

Michigan shot the lights out and NU didn’t.

This was Chase’s worst-shooting game since Auburn.

Exactly predictable for you to bring the negativity. And either you believe Michigan is better than us or you believe we had no chance (“ball game”).. Which one?
NU is a pretty good team that has offensive deficiencies and has to win with great defense and just enough offense.

As good as NU's defense is said to be, they sure do give up some open threes.

When Dickinson made that three point play to put us down 10, yes, I knew we had no chance.

Man I love Boo. Never sit him.
I don't get the love for BB. Yes, he's gritty, and sometimes goes on a streak. But the bad often outweighs the good, and I find him frustrating to watch. Dribbles aimlessly too often, dribbles into trouble a lot, is often careless with the ball, has a hard time finishing, and is shooting somewhere around 25 percent from 3. Which is just awful.

It's baffling to me that he keeps shooting 3s early in the clock. I suppose CC could be telling him, "Just keep shooting! They'll eventually start to fall!" If so, it's on him.

NU had trouble on the boards for the first time since OSU. Michigan missed 27 shots and had 11 offensive boards. There were a few key boards in those final four minutes. NU had 9 on 34 misses.

Buie should lay off the 3's unless WIDE open off a pass (not any off the dribble), and focus on his drive and create game, which is pretty solid. Maybe then he can get a rhythm going but his bricks from 3 are really costing us right now.

He’s an imperfect NU player, obvious weaknesses overcome with grit and effort. NU will never have more talent in the conference, so we need guys that overwhelm their deficiencies with effort. Boo is a dog, like Chase is a dog, like Barnhizer is a dog. We need 13 dogs.

(Mostly tho, I wrote ‘never sit him’ as a joke because he did something cool, I think it was his weird falling banked-in leaner over Dickerson on a drive to the right block, moments after I posted that he should sit more so that Berry-Roper-Chase could play together.)

If Collins doesn't want him taking those, you would think he would've told him by now.

We do have dogs, but they obviously can only get you so far.

I mean, I know it's obvious, but both teams had good looks from behind the 3-point line, and Michigan made more of those shots. We can beat our heads against the wall after this loss, or we can just hope NU plays tighter defense and hits more open shots next game, as they have done in prior games this season.
