This one could be ugly. Nance is out. Elyjah Williams is out. The Cats have lost four in a row and teams are making 34.5% of their threes against them, which ranks 238th in the country according to KenPom.

And MSU — well, they’re MSU. They’ve won nine in a row this season and 13 of 14 in this series.

Buckle up, guys.

Yep… that was awful.

Cant miss two FTs though like Roper just did.

Great Nicholson sighting on the slip screen and strong finish at the rim!

And they throw in a last second 3 from a zillion yards away. You’d hope the odds would even out and we’d make some of those soon.

Collins must keep this nice rotation of players going in the 2nd half so they stay fresh.

That bs also changes the whole game flow because then when he gets the second he has to head to the bench

big 10 refs are soooo bad they almost need to give the coaches a couple challenges each game lol

the league really needs to tell the refs that the benefit of the doubt should be on “no foul” vs the current “it’s a foul”

Bogus foul on Hall. So what happens is making up for it by calling another bogus foul on the other end on Nicholson. Now both our big men have 2 fouls and 1 bogus call each.

The second foul on him was also incredibly questionable. Refs have far too much of an impact on a basketball game.

The other night vs Maryland they called a foul on us- don’t recall the exact player but the ref 3 feet away was watching closely and let it go. So of course the ref that was 30 ft away made the call…

If, like me, you’ve been saying for a few weeks now that you really like our young guys, this game is for you.

I have to imagine we’re gonna get worn down in the second half purely on the basis that we have two bigs and 5 fouls left between them, but this is an extremely encouraging effort under stupid difficult circumstances. Hope they come out and play the next 20 with the same confidence, and we’ll see where the chips land.

The big thing is the fouls. We only have 3 true bigs. The next “big” is Barnhizer. He did ok guarding Hauser but that’s not a long term solution.

Nothing like starting the half with a clean block being called goaltending when it was not. That’s 5 direct points on the refs and even more momentum. I’m so sick of them.

Buie made a nice play with the ball but then started playing iso the next few possessions that didn’t work.

Hanging in there.Have to start running some better plays on offense.We can take 3's anytime we want.Lets have an inside out game.Young down low and have him take it to the rim or kick it out.

That fast break by Greer was just awful. Can’t waste opportunities like that!!

Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an NU team with this depth athletically. That Roper rebound was great!

NU is a ”smart” school, but Im often amazed at how bad our basketball IQ is compared to our opponents.

How many 1 foot shots can Young miss??!! How has his vertical jump not improved at all in 4 years at a major college program?

Ryan Young has simply not played enough all year. I’ve said it in many game threads but win or lose its criminal that his minutes have been as low as they’ve been. I know his vertical is pathetic but he’s crafty and incredibly tough.
