I don’t think I’ve ever made such a terrible assessment of anything if my life when I started the thread about us not being very good this year bc of defense/athleticism. I was just hung up on watching Kansas and ark play and thought they just looked about a step quicker. But after watching us more and of course watching ark and cal’s lack luster coaching tonight, I was wrong. My apologies

Much like the Indiana game. So much talent and they are letting a way less talented team hang around because they can’t shoot, let 2 big men clog the paint, and can’t beat a zone. I don’t think Ewardsville has enough offensive firepower to win but it’s been ugly so far for the Hoosiers.
We just have very good players who play in a system designed for them. We run things analytically and are very unselfish. That will go a long way to being a very good team. We also have key guys who are great defenders.
That’s the thing. You can get by with athletic guys like Knox/Richmond when the other 4 guys on the court can shoot. But with the exception of 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2024–Cal always played a post and two guys who weren’t outside threats. It shrinks the court.
This Arkansas team is no different. Fland and Davis can shoot, Wagner occasionally makes shots….but who else is really a threat?
I’m very happy we don’t have to watch a young Cal team early in the year again. So much talent and another slow start with Cal yelling like a mad man on the sidelines.
Agreed, I like a Richmond but he’s no threat offensively at this point. He’s a great player to have for the future but Cal has to rely on them to be great this year which doesn’t work most times.
DJ Wagner is playing ‘shooting guard.’ Man this will be a good laugh. No backboard is safe with that guy shooting.
I would of liked to get Boogie and keep Big Z everyone else I didn't care about.
Z is probably their second best shooter and Cal won’t let him shoot. This is great to watch.
Watching Arkansas play, it is no wonder all of us are sitting here watching that and being thankful we don't have him coaching at Kentucky anymore.

Good ole Cal, will certainly set records for all of the wrong reasons and a first time for everything under him. They made a deal with the devil and must live with the results.

DJ is the same non-shooting DJ that played at UK last year. The only thing to change is the color of his uniform. This team looks just like a typical Cal coached team.
They are lucky Z hit that 3 and then they barely missed on the other end and turned it over or else this would be some real pressure.
I see Wagner still can't hit a layup. I've seen him miss at least 3 tonight

No way is Arkansas the 4th best team in the conference.
Might not be Lipscomb's night in the end but make no mistake this team is going to get punked by some scrub.
Big Z’s size is too much for them..but when he faces a good center they are in trouble
If Arkansas played a team that could rebound and defend better with a legit center they would have lost tonight.
