Game Thread: Northwestern at Penn State

[mshelton33]

Northwestern (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) is on the road today to play at Penn State (3-2, 0-2 Big Ten). The game is set to kick at 2:30 pm CT on FS1.

The Nittany Lions were the preseason No. 2 team but after a double overtime loss to Oregon and a shocking loss at UCLA, have fallen out of the AP Top 25.

[Deeringfish]

Hey, we got a first down

[Deeringfish]

Great catch by Elagon

[TheC]

Stone has to quit falling away on these throws. It's gonna' get picked again at some point.

[TheC]

Those are the plays that get you blown out against the big powers (or whatever PSU is these days)

[HawkCat]

Major special teams breakdown there.

[NU Houston]

Geez. Just let a guy come in untouched on the punt. He blocked it with his hip, because he was on top of the punter.

[Deeringfish]

Ho Ho Ho

[HawkCat]

Dodged a bullet there!

[NU Houston]

Nice INT!

The boo birds are out in Unhappy Valley.

[Deeringfish]

The should dim the crowd.

Way too much time to punt

And those are the plays that keep you in the game against the big powers (or whatever PSU is these days)

Run 5 and repeat …

[HawkCat]

Himon is a surprisingly strong runner between the tackles.

Run 5 and repeat …

Or 6

[nickcat4]

Way too much time to punt. Who is #7

[NU Houston]

Run 5 and repeat …

And mix 6 in on occasion...

Himon is a surprisingly strong runner between the tackles.

I think if there is a crease , he kind of disappears for a second amid all the big bodies.

[TheC]

Why throw inside the 10??? Go with your damn strength!!

[NU Houston]

Penn State is playing undisciplined. Two bonehead penalties and a poor pass for an INT in the end zone.

[Deeringfish]

Well, it's encouraging to see a drive like this. Should get at least 3

Lujan has a habit of overthinking it in the red zone.

3 is not a given…

[eddie_gocats]

Whew

[Deeringfish]

3 is not a given…

I'll take it!

[bringbacktherantboard]

I'm happy with points off a turnover. A touchdown would be nice, but it was still a nice, long drive that ended in points. I'll take it.

[TheC]

PSU is trying to give us help, but we need our DL to step up

[TheC]

Good tackling so far by our guys

[TheC]

We really needed him to drop that ball. So close!

[eddie_gocats]

We won the 1st qtr! Glad it ended since psu looked like they were playing hurry up.

[NU Houston]

Doing what we need to do to stay in it. Sustained drives on offense, limiting big plays on defense. Keep it close and see where this one goes.

[phatcat_rivals223240]

Well, we're leading. Go Cats. Need another Allar eff up

Yeah, Alllar didnt realize the quarter had ended. He looked confused that nobody else was showing any urgency. Amusing.

[NUcats92]

Wish our line would show up and get Drew to speed up his decisions.

[TerraCat]

Uhline looking god, D line has to stop the run…let’s go gentlemen!!

[Cool Cat]

PSU is very beatable.

[HawkCat]

Saka is out.

[NUcats92]

Well, never knew saka was out

[TheC]

Our DL is not playing well at all
