Nicholson did what he could but Mullins should NOT be passing him the ball at the top of the key with four seconds on the shot clock.

Refs finally called the dragging on Nick. Didn’t help us, but we could use a few more of those. Nick being literally held in check makes it tough to score.

I think this might be the record for the most references to the Bulls in an NU game since like 2001.

Man, the ease the refs call fouls on you if you are a freshman. Ask KJ and AC

Blowing a 20 point second half lead in college basketball seems like something that probably doesn't happen often. Just don't have any depth from all the recruiting misses. Hopefully, we can start stringing together a few good classes in a row.

Would be nice to have something positive happen. No recruits for football for 2026 for the last couple months. Serious and losses for the basketball team. Lacrosse loses.

that was horrifying. Not sure how they don't call the flagrant elbow to the head, especially on our court.
Clearly intentional.

But Nebraska has NCAA possibilities - and we don't.

It wasn’t just guarding Ty. The real shift happened when they started physically restraining Ty and Nick with impunity.
We didn’t lose this game because of refs. We lost because we have only 2 players that are legitimate scoring threats and we are playing at least 3 that wouldn’t be seeing any minutes on most B1G teams.

Bad defense in the 2nd half and playing not to lose. Not very smart basketball in that half.

That felt weird. The arena was so cold. Crowd was underwhelming. And it was not because there were that many John Deeres. Kind of disappointing this was the game I made it to.

Honestly, the loss isn’t all that much of a big deal. Even if you are locked out of the B1G tournament, that’s not a big deal to me. Doubt we win another game, and I would bet the ranch if we did that we would not be competitive in the B1G tournament game.

What disheartening is we have 3 players getting an opportunity to shine and from what I see they are rapidly going backwards. Hopefully, this beatdown to end the season will be helpful in preparing for next year.

At least, the staff gets a good idea of what they “must get” in the portal next season.

Wanted more of Fitzmorris. His energy and ability to actually score were really needed during that never-ending drought.

That’s the first Big Ten team to blow a 20-point lead at home in 7 years — the last one was NU’s 27-point collapse vs. MSU at the Allstate Mausoleum in 2018.

A development program can’t have complete recruiting classes be totally useless like the soph class. And when you add on half of the junior class being useless(Hunger right now) that makes it even worse. And then of course add on 2 of your best players out for the season.

This program has to allow freshman to develop and has to be able to lean on Srs, Jrs and then start to get contributions out of sophs in order to be good. Right now they have one and a half guys out of the Soph/jr classes that are any good. The Gragg affect continues to haunt with that Soph class.

Hopefully it starts to change next year where you have continuous good recruiting classes and key transfers and then you can continue to get old and stay old which would translate to NCAA teams and continued success.

This team has a lot of heart but without more than two scorers, it's really hard to close out a good team and the Big Ten has a lot of good teams, BUT NOT MANY GREAT ONES. And big leads disappear all the time in the modern game. Yesterday, Porter Moser's Oklahoma team lost a five point lead in the last 20 seconds at home against a 1-10 LSU team

The Illini had a horrible finish at home yesterday. I think they missed 15 in a row to end the game.

The surprise of today was how well we played in the first half. We should have had 50 but the defense was very good.

Gelo actually played ok today. I liked his aggressiveness on both sides of the ball in his limited sample. He, Ty and Fitzmorris all brought energy today. The rest, even Mart, were out of sorts/sync.

Thanks for sharing. I agree it wasn't just the refs, but they certainly affected the outcome of the game in an unbalanced manner. When Ty can't get free on several plays because the guy guarding him is actually holding him by both hips and when Nick is guarded by holding his elbow and pulling him around, and it happens several times with no call for either of them as the cats suddenly stop scoring because only three guys can move, it matters.

The cats also missed a lot of shots they should have made. It isn't all the refs fault. But they contributed enough to allow Nebby back into the game.

The elbow to the throat was a pretty egregious example of them hand waving away an intentional effort at injuring our players. Tell me ejecting that kid for the obviously flagrant II wouldn't have changed the outcome.

I'm interested in some of the coaching decisions in that Mullins, Gelo, and Berry all had success driving the base line, and even generated a couple of free throws doing so. It seems like something they should try creating much more often. Nebby was not good at defending them the handful of times they did it.

Guy was swinging his elbows hard. With the potential to actually hurt someone else. The groin hit really doesn’t cause any real damage to another player. Very bizarre rules, and strange they didn’t give us that technical, but that is to be expected from the refs and us. Also thought a foul on windham near the end should have been an offensive foul. Not sure what constitutes getting an offensive foul in college basketball…..

I was at the game today. My 7th game this year. We played 4 frosh today--Mullins, Gelo, Clayton, and Windham. Mullins came from a crud program and Clayton did not play much. Gel and Windham are true frosh. The only impactful frosh at guard I remember was Juice, who sat 4 rows behind me today, and MacIntosh. Sobo was okay. Frankly, I hope all 4 come back. None had ever been asked to contribute like they do now. They need to develop offensive skills of 500 3 pointers a day and put the ball on the floor. They can play defense. Windham has a B10 body. Mullins is quick and I think Clayton can be serviceable. They need to shoot, shoot, shoot, and shoot. I yearn for the days of Alex Olah, Pardon and Luka who could at least do something offensively in the middle. Martinelli is the only frontcourt player we have. Tough to win with only 2 players--Berry and Martinelli.

And yet had a 20 PT. Lead. Tired of people blaming lack of fan support.
