Izzo and Collins spent most of the pregame shoot around chatting on the bench. Would have loved to listen to that conversation.
They just mentioned that NU leads the nation in assist/turnover ratio, which is pretty amazing.
Probably one of those games where we keep it close and we least expect it.
That was the best defense we played all season in the first half. Caught them by surprise.

Well that was the first half so far this season where we actually looked like a tough team that's ready to play in the Big 10. I think we have the guys to be a good team, just have to bring this effort/mentality each night. This is a big step, but it still will be tough to actually win this game.
We have MSU rattled. Izzo will settle them down, but if we can keep the pressure on, it will be interesting. MSU is NOT a good shooting team from outside. Packing the paint and daring guys like Fears and Carr to shoot is a great approach.

Would really love to know why Windham doesn’t play. It has to be something other than he’s not good enough on this roster. This team just isn’t a “team”.
Clayton, Reid, Mullins, and Singleton a combined 0-11 today from 3. Let that sink in.
We need a pretty thorough reset of the roster next year. I hope Collins can hit the portal hard like other BIG teams have done. There just isn't a lot of skill on this team and no shooting outside of Nick.

If anyone not named Martinelli could hit a 3 or Reid had a few of those layups roll a different way it’d be a different game. They played well. Best defensive game this season.

Well the same old same old. NU hung in there but lousy shooting besides Nick doomed the CATS. They just can't put it all together and I am afraid they won't this year. Gave up almost 50 points in the 2nd half.

MSU is one of the best defenses in the nation. Low and behold the complaints are about scoring.
They have asked this question earlier after at least two different games. After a certain point, the guys covering the team can't ask the same question again without annoying the staff. It's obvious KJ is not going to play barring some major catastrophe, and even in that case Phoenix Gill may play before him.
They asked before the trend became apparent. There’s clearly a reason. We need real reporting.
I am not trying to be a jerk about this, but it is incredibly difficult to dig deep in the press conferences. The opportunities to meet 1:1 with CCC during the season are limited and on a sensitive topic like this...during a tailspin...when the number of journalists covering NU men's BB is in the single digits. You're asking the two guys on this board to do some heavy lifting and trust me, there will be a negative return on the investment if they press.
Not to mention it is also the middle of the busiest college football portal in history.
The answer to "why is KJ Windham not playing" is not forthcoming.
I think this is right. This is a team matter and Collins clearly doesn't want to share this internal issue. At some point after the season, someone will probably leak an explanation, but don't look for Collins to answer any questions about this directly all season.
But it's also completely normal that we talk about it here. It's a huge mystery.
We will be making the drive down to Piscataway and will try to ask a few people what the deal is!
Don't let Collins out of the building without an answer!
