Second half MSU was just better, but by far our best defensive and rebounding effort. First half defense was really crisp.
Windham mystery aside, I don’t understand why we aren’t trying to run on every defensive rebound. Bunch of possessions where Collins was on the floor actively stopping Reid/West from accelerating down the floor. Our lead guards don’t make open threes and miss layups all day, and as an added bonus nobody but Clayton can make an entry pass to Martinelli (this seems to me why he plays, aside from whatever intangibles he is bringing to the table). But we keep running the same half court sets where our slashers have no space to slash, Nick has to rush shots as soon as he catches them, and nobody can make a corner three. Somebody make this make sense.
i actually think given the makeup of our team the defense all year has been better than it should be. But the lineups and rotations and playing to our weaknesses results in long stretches where we can’t get anything going.
