I hope you brought your compasses! Northwestern (9-3, 1-1 Big Ten) hosts Northeastern (8-4) today at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The game is on time for a 12:30 pm CT tip and will air on Peacock.

Looking for Barnhizer to get at least 21 points (pushing his season average up to 20 exactly) and 10 boards to keep his double-double streak going. Let's hope for an easy win.

Team seems really off early. Two mystifying turnovers, ugly shots, bad D. Time to wake up guys!

Not a good start at all defensively and offensively
They are double teaming Martinelli and forcing him to pass which is not doing well
Their inside defense is swarming and we can't hit the 3. Meantime they won't miss
We can't even make layups. They look like the far superior team. much more prepared. much better defensively. doubling all of our key players. letting the guys that cant shoot fire away and of course they're missing

We will finish 16th in the league if we don't start shooting better. Unreal.

Berry's offensive board leading to second-chance points was important. If Northeastern is going to score every time they shoot, NU is going to need to take advantage of every opportunity they can get. Six turnovers already for Northeastern, but everything else has been great for them.

Mullens is great on D, but his inability or unwillingness to attack the basket makes us very easy to guard.

I am completely relaxed. Unlike football, I have zero expectations for BB. I don't get worked up over it
Things are settling back to a more normal scenario where they're not making every shot, however they're still doing a great job on Martinelli who has had difficulty scoring or even getting a shot up and what he does he's not making them

Man, the first half of that half was brutal. Really came on the last 10 or so minutes. Really good crowd for a Sunday afternoon between Christmas and New Years.

Is it me or has Berry been the best Cat today? Love to see it.
It’s you. :D

Even though Barney is only 1-6 shooting at the half, he still has 8 pts, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 6-6 free throws.

But glad to see Ty having a good game so far, leading all scorers at the half with 12.

Yeah, of course Barnhizer has been the best Cat, as he usually is, but I feel like Berry has been particularly engaged today.

If you watch only Barnhizer when the Cats are on D, you might occasionally miss something, but usually you won't. He's everywhere.

If we can get Martinelli going this will be a blowout. I think he's two for eight from the field

Yeah. Northeastern has forced him out of his game. He needs a few easy baskets to get back in the right place.

First, get the win. Second, I'd like enough cushion to see the bench guys
Based on what the coach has been doing recently even if we're up 18 or so he still won't put the bench guys in unless it's the last minute or so. I think it's a big mistake we're going to need way more depth in the Big 10.

Cats are 16-26 from the field in second half, pushing them up to 51% for the game. Amazing considering how poorly they started.

Just need two more boards from Barnhizer.
