Gamecock QBs with consecutive or multiple wins vs Clemson? (and that 1975 backfield)

Sellers has a chance to join a pretty short list. Shaw and Garcia pulled of consecutive wins from '09-'13 (Garcia with 2 and Shaw with 3). Then I think you go back to Taneyhill who had wins in 1992 and 1994. Do you then go back to Grantz in the 70s for the last QB with multiple wins? Suggs, I think is tied with Shaw for most consecutive wins with 3 from '68-'70. We had some consecutive wins in the 40s and 50s, but it's hard to tell who was starting QB on those teams.

Are Shaw, Garcia and Suggs the only relatively "recent" QBs to beat Clemson in consecutive years?

Side note: That 1975 backfield was a beast. Kevin Long with 6.2 ypc and 1,114 yards total, Clarence Williams with 5.6 ypc and 1,016 yards total.

I was there to witness the 56-20 (that score is a tattoo in my brain) win. That will be a memory I will take to my grave. I was in graduate school at the time. It was a great pleasure watching some Clemson fans, about 3 rows directly below me, react in pain. One in particular placed his face in his hands every time we scored.. And I will never forget how highly regarded and ranked Clemson came into that 1975 season. As the outcome of the 1975 game became obvious against the then 2-8 Tigers, I remember the student male cheerleader repeatedly yelling on his microphone: "Kiss my a$$, kiss my behine, bowl-bound Tigers you're now 2-9".

Shaw only played against that school upstate on 2 occasions: 2011 & 2013. He was on the team in 2010, but I can't recall if he got some 4th qtr. mop up duty or not. He did not play in 2012. Was a late scratch due to flu or something. Dylan Thompson lit 'em up & beat 'em in 2012.

We should do a half century all-star team....

Me too. Freshman year. I thought, no problem with this rivalry going forward. Wasn’t until the 80’s when I heard about the meeting after that game with B.C. Inabinet and the fellow crooks. “We will make sure this never happens again”.

I heard the same thing regarding the meeting.

Those of us who were in our late teens and early 20s, at the time, sure have seen a lot of "ups and downs" in Gamecock football in the past half century. I hope that in the twilight of our fandom, we experience the thrill of success that will endure in Gamecock lore as glory forever.
