I really enjoy watching this edition of the 'Cats play defense. There is a purpose and commitment from all five on the court. I just hope they can stay healthy because of the level of energy it takes to execute.

However, on offense...welp, we're gonna need to force some more steals to get easier transition buckets. Or something.

Watching Northwestern this year feels like watching a middle school game - they run around all over the place and play hard, but there is no skill and the ball rarely goes through the basket.

Barnhouser is solid! We look tough!

Offensive rebounding has been very good for NU so far.Playing hard on D but the offense is atrocious.

I can’t watch this team. It’s just such bad basketball. This Pitt team is awful and they are beating us up. I’ve never seen a team miss so many routine shots.

So they just got an easy bucket running floppy and then go away from it. That's silly.

Gotta make layups.

Like martinelli hustle.

Need the Brean from the first few games. Ever since he had some issue with the Georgetown height he regressed.

I guess my expectations were heightened and then I watch this game and I'm deflated by our utter ineptitude to score. Matt Nicholson is Shaq-like in his free throw shooting

NU has been a 2nd half team this year and they are gonna need it in this game.Down by 9.FT shooting is terrible for NU.Shooting in general is terrible for us.Cover their 3 point shooters and have Buie drive to the basket and kick the ball out and see if we can start knocking down some shots.

No toughness tonight.

Hanging their heads cause they cannot make shots.

Boo's close outs on defense are bad.

It's time for a wholesale change. Our revenue sports athletics are the pits. Let's unshackle the coaches and allow us to get athletes who are upstanding citizens but may not be the academic giants. We should adopt dukes motto which doesn't hurt the reputation of the school and fields competitivecteams

At least the refs started calling fouls on 4, whose whole game has been moving screens, push offs and shoves.

He looked baffled when they finally called a couple.

This is a tough watch. Let’s just note that this is a VERY experienced team. We can’t even look into the future with optimism.

2nd time tonight NU fouls a 3 point shooter.I know he tries but I will not be sorry to see Robbie Beran move on He is very frustrating to root for.Buie the same. The main revenue sports in Evanston are beyond terrible.

Not much good to say about NU oncourt tonight, but an ex-Cat is doing an excellent job on radio working with Dave Eanet. Billy McKinney handles the color slot really well, and is not a homer. Calls it as he sees it, which is knowledgeably.

Ok, this is embarrassing on so many levels.

On a totally unrelated note, are these refs out of conference?
We get this crew a lot and they consistently suck. They’re awful kind of like the brand of basketball we brought tonight.

I’m embarrassed for the cats and the refs. I’m a little embarrassed for the Pitt coach, but maybe he’s too excited about winning a game.

Blown out by a bad Pitt team. I was unable to watch but see Pitt shot lights out from 3. Was our defense that bad? How can we go from looking so good defensively to giving up almost 90? Inexcusable.

Could easily have been more than 90 Pitt points. Capel was substituting liberally and slowing things down near the end. Cats just couldn't stop them.

Announcers said that Pitt mined the portal for 40% 3pt shooters. Why aren't we doing same?

It's quite a thing to watch us push the ball in transition and jack up wild 3 after wild 3 when nobody on the roster can consistently make shots.

If they actually wanted to win with defense, they'd slow the tempo way down, limit possessions, and try to generate high percentage looks. Instead, this.

Went to the game.
We looked absolutely horrible.
Nobody played well. Guys were out of control and we literally appeared to have no offensive approach whatsoever. Barnhizer started playing one on one. Nicholson tried some sort of spin move from the 3 point line to the basket.
Defensively we were so late on the perimeter.
We were bad on the boards, although I saw a lot of shoving by Pitt under the basket that went uncalled. Still no excuse.
Got a decent glimpse of Martinelli and Hunger.
Martinelli has good instincts.

Also, there was nobody at the game. The team looked flat from the tipoff. I watched Collins scream "Move the f*%^ing ball!!!" in Ty Berry's face after Berry got stuck in the lane and turned the ball over.

He had at least three starters in until the last few minutes. Up 30 and kept his best scorers in the game. They were trying to score until the very last possession.

No class.

The highlight of the night may have been watching MN clank two free throws, get a third due to a Pitt lane violation, and clank that one too.

For a team that starts 4 “seniors” we don‘t play very smart. Makes you wonder how Beran, Boo, and Audige would have developed if they had been coached by someone better than CC.

Verhoeven isn’t Veryhogood and is little more than roster filler.
