A "Nick Richards as a Junior" type leap forward for Brandon would not surprise me. The same signs are there -- moments that show the height of his ceiling, but frustrating inconsistency brought about in part by a lack of experience and conditioning.

Go for it Brandon. I saw Nick contributing in an NBA game I attended in DC recently. You can get there.

That would be awesome.

Liked when he said he thought it was just a coaches pitch about the games being sold out and then Big Blue Madness showed him it was the real deal. I guess as fans we assume everyone knows how crazy it is. I was also wondering is Kentucky the only place where the players get treated like celebrities? Is that everywhere or just at UK?

This is the exact kind of player we want for Pope’s system. We want to be the team the has a couple McDAA players as Juniors/Seniors. Those are guys who continually get access to NBA scouting, feedback, and individual training level. They deeply know what it takes. Guys that remember scoring 25 on guys who are currently in the league. We’ve long lamented that we don’t get the benefit of seeing the development from all the McDAA talent that has stopped through Lexington. Idk, maybe I’ll just speak for myself. This is exactly what I wanted from Pope. He seems to understand what a Championship mixture looks like.

Garrison's willingness to pass was an underrated part of his game this past season, 18 more assists(also 12 less turnovers) than his freshman season at OK St., with a lesser role. Not saying he will be Amari Williams in the offense next season, but he shown this past season that he is capable of putting the ball in the right spot.

It will be interesting to see how we use him. Both Jelavic and Dioubate shoot the long ball much better than he does and they both, in addition to Quaintance, both rebound and convert from inside significantly better than he does (much better regarding the rebounding). But Garrison is probably the best of the bunch at passing. (But not by much. If we want Magic Johnson this year we are going to have to build him from scratch.)

BG, MD, and JQ will be a dangerous trio inside once JQ recovers.

Jelavic is a bit of an unknown. Could be great, could be another Ivisic. Kind of expect somewhere in between as he adjusts to the American game. A lot of Euros struggle defensively when they come over here and being in the SEC, the physicality is a real concern.

I’m expecting the three experienced guys to get 20+ minutes a game with Jelavic getting 15 or so. Moreno will fill in when needed.

I expect BG to lead the way at the 5, until JQ is ready, with MM getting good backup minutes.

I kind of expect BG and MD to play a lot together and AJ to be on the floor with JQ mostly. AJ will probably need help defensively and JQ provides more rim protection than BG. MD fits better with BG.

That could be a nice rotation, with MM providing some good depth at Center.

Love that fact that he discussed the types of players (high character) Pope is looking for in this 2nd squad. His guys are being kept up to date on what is going on. Maybe not before committing but right after. BG should be a huge help along with Noah, Chandler and Oweh in getting guys up to speed this year.

I disagree. I think he has Willie Cauley-Stein defense capabilities. He just needs to rein in his emotions.
There is reason we've only had one 7'1" guy who could guard every position on the floor....they don't grow on trees. As much as I wish he was I don't think he has the motor, foot speed and agility to be a WCS type defender.

BG doesn't have near the length, timing or instincts WCS did when it comes to blocking shots.
Not even close. BG is not a shot blocker, only 1.0 per30min. Guys like WCS, Richards, etc... were all 2-3 times that.
BG is also a bad rebounder which is partly defense (giving up offensive boards). His rebounding rate is more like that of a SF.

He averaged 2 blocks per 30 minutes/game at OSU as a freshman.

He's an average rim protector for his position.

Hope the two year plan stretches to three for our sakes. I’m selfish, I want him to graduate from here. If Broome can do five years of college, why can’t we get four out of BG? He will get paid handsomely, if he comes back.

He’s more of a Jamal magloire than wcs. Nick richards is a good comp. He had a much more productive Soph season than Nick. Harrison has a high ceiling imo. Let’s us not forget EJ Montgomery who certainly would have hit the portal. There wow somewhere between EJ and Jamal magloie that’s where I expect BG to be.

He needs to be more physical and improve his touch a bit. If he can do that he will be great.
