Gas Prices Where You Live

It got down to $2.73 at Wawa in Fort Pierce. It’s now back to $3.19. It’s as though the price fluctuates with supply and demand.

$3.19 in Clarksville and it was $2.99 at Kroger on Westport road
Anyone here go out of their way for cheaper gas? And to what extent?
Theres a ****** 4-pump gas station near me that offers maybe 30 to 40cents less per gallon than other gas stations less than a mile away. Sometimes the credit card reader doesn't work and you have to pay inside. And yet, people line up for this station. I've seen even 2-3 cars in line for the two pumps on one side. And again, down the road theres a much nicer gas station and its 30 cents more. It's also a pain to pull in and out of, and everyone seems to be in each other's way.
I don't know, maybe if you're driving a lot it adds up. But I can't imagine waiting several cars worth just to get roughly a 10% discount.
But maybe that says something about where the economy is, because again, people are lining up for the cheaper gas.

There is a station right across from the entrance to our community on US-1. It's always about 7-10 cents cheaper than Wawa. I rarely get gas there unless it's really early in the AM or late PM, because otherwise the place is packed and there is no red light. If I stop there, I have to go a mile out of my way or risk being involved in a wreck trying to get back across 4 lanes of traffic and a turn lane that most people treat like an exit/on ramp. If you're heading south, it's not much of an issue except waiting for a pump to come open. If you need to go north, or like me, straight across, you're risking a wreck. I prefer to stop at the Wawa and pay an extra $2 so I can go out of any one of their three exits, one of which is a red light, and if I'm hungry, I can get something tasty out of their kitchen.

After falling back to $$3.07 for a few days, it’s up to $3.31 at the Wawa this AM.$2.49 everywhere in BG, except the new Racetrack that just opened, $2.39 there. Guess they are trying to lure customers in from the Shell and Caseys across from them.

Yep. I had an economic professor jokingly announce to the class to never ask him about gas prices since they can move so dramatically from day to day in either direction. Of course, global demand, war, etc can influence oil costs directly, but when those things are not an obvious issue, prices still swing wildly.It’s almost like the POTUS doesn’t control gas prices
"control"... no. But they can affect them in many ways. Using the SPR to increase supply or stopping pipelines or drilling permits to hurt future demand will hurt futures contracts. The reason gas is so volatile is because large purchasers are having to buy months in advance and have to constantly try to predict or hedge their bets.
Weak Dollar will affect gas prices more than a President actually can.
Now you want to argue how the dollar gets weaker have at it.

As I love to quote my first real boss in New York in the late 90’s who made a **** ton of money selling things to people that they didn’t know they needed…
It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. It matters if it’s effective.
We went to East TN for a couple of weeks. Prices ranged from $2.49-$2.79. On the way back to South Florida, they ranged from a low of $2.49 in Orangeburg, SC to a high of $3.09 in Port Orange, FL. It was $2.94 at the Wawa in Fort Pierce today.
Policy changes can definitely affect long term prices. But no, you’re right, there’s no finger snapping to make it dropIt’s almost like the POTUS doesn’t control gas prices
And right on cue, it went from $2.87 this AM to $3.19 this afternoon. Tomorrow and for the next two weeks, it'll come back down by a penny or two a day, then go back up.
It was awesome. Going out to the beach and no one there because there weren’t any tourists. No dressing up to go out to eat. Ordering groceries online and have them bringing it to your car because of shopping restrictions, not to mention purchase limits on products. Keeping a weekly toilet paper inventory in your home. No routine Dr. appointments to go to because they canceled them. Good times indeed.
Last time I got gas it was $3.89, but I have to use premium. Houghton, MI.
