While this is/was fun....it is 100% ridiculous.
Synopsis:
You are on a 5a/6a football board. Football talk. You came on here talking about SC. I respond.
There is no narrative. You have my opinion. I'm not a representative of sph but I BET many would agree with what I say because the talks are just that. So you aren't painting the whole crowd as anything (though you try).
Totally wrong about sc "sports": From others' point of view which you don't understand....because you are on the inside of sc fandom....we are just talking about reality. What has happened on the field. There is no narrative. You can go read the final scores. You won't be able to read the last two years final scores of SPH-Schitts Creek though because SCH ghosted the football game in terror.
Back to the original point: Sign up to play SPH on the football field, or go back to beating up the handicapped teams in your conf not named Shelby and Burns.
Well, I see we're still having fun with this.
First, the 4A argument. Cramer didn't sit around, look at a map, and decide South Point was too close for comfort. Classification is determined by the state. The school didn't get to pick. So this whole narrative about Cramer running away from South Point because it landed in 4A is a little hard to follow. If you've got evidence Cramer manipulated its enrollment numbers, let's hear it. Otherwise, we're blaming a school for a decision it didn't make. Suggesting Cramer somehow manipulated its enrollment numbers to land in 4A is about as believable as the Earth being flat and every airline pilot being in on it.
Now, on the football side, I looked back at the Cramer-South Point series. Eleven meetings, eleven South Point wins. Maybe two were reasonably competitive; the rest were pretty lopsided.
And this whole scheduling argument still doesn't make much sense to me. South Point wanting Cramer to keep playing after those previous results would be like Cramer calling Highland Tech once realignment happens and begging them to get on the schedule. What would be the point for either side? Let's be honest you want to play Cramer because of gate money and the thought you could continue to be big brother. Are we sure Cramer is the ones who decided to not play?
Cramer was 2-18 in the two years prior to the realignment. Why wouldn't they schedule teams they could actually compete with and build a program? And now that the program has turned a corner, we're supposed to believe the lack of a South Point game is some kind of admission of fear?
Maybe I'm naive, but did anybody honestly see Cramer making this kind of jump? I certainly didn't. Credit where it's due: kudos to Simmons and his staff. They've built something, and they've earned that recognition on the field. Apparently, we're supposed to believe the only thing standing between Cramer and legitimacy is a date on South Point's schedule.
Since we're talking about what happens on the field, what about Lincolnton? Weren't they supposedly the team that dominated South Point in that August scrimmage? Cramer went out and beat Lincolnton convincingly. Seems like that might deserve a footnote in this measuring-stick discussion. Or maybe that part didn't make the director's cut.
For what it's worth, I think every single person on these boards would have loved to see Cramer play South Point this year. I know I would have. But that didn't happen, so we're left debating hypothetical matchups. And honestly, if they had played and settled the argument, what fun would that be?
On the old SWC, do you speak from experience playing in that conference, or are you going off historical records? You describe it as a murderer's row, with all those mills feeding the schools and everybody playing .500 football. I'd be interested in seeing some of those records. I'm not dismissing that era; I'm just asking for something more than a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Now, here's an idea. Since we're all apparently experts on who would beat whom, let's actually talk football.
South Point guys: What are your biggest strengths this year? Which position groups are your best? What do you do particularly well?
Cramer guys, same question about your team.
Let's put the hypothetical matchup together. Strengths, weaknesses, personnel, matchups. We can debate football instead of debating whether a game that didn't happen should determine whether a program deserves respect.
I'm all ears. And I promise not to require a notarized permission slip from the 5A board.
Consider this my courtesy flush.
