Gates County suffered their first loss of the year on the road last night at 2a Bertie County. They came out flat and at half were trailing Bertie 22-0. Second half was all Red Barons. They stormed back only to come up short 22-20. Missed opportunities on two fgs were costly. The first was a pat after a td. The snap was terrible and their star kicker had no chance. The second time the coaching staff made the decision to go for a 50 yard fg late in the game. I applaud the coaching staff on this decision. The kid definitely has the leg to make the kick, they just have to work more on getting a good snap and hold for him. The Red Barons will be ok though, they fought hard thru adversity on the road and put their selves in a position to win when they could of easily rolled over at half

Bertie putting up 22 on GC in a half and shutting out GC for a half was all I needed to see. I think Bertie’s players simply felt the game was over. Also, that kick for 50 yards was bogus. That football landed short of the end zone. The coach was simply getting the ball moved closer to the end zone after the attempt. Which is exactly what the refs did. He was playing field postas the game was almost over. Edenton would crush GC in that classification.
You are clueless, your team almost got beat by 1A Gates County. Gates County came out flat in that game, and if they hadn't they would have easily beat you guys. The kicker you're referring to for Gates County is already holding an offer from Virginia Tech. The snap was bad as well as the hold. If you go on Instagram and type in his name you will see him making 50 plus. What you better worry about is when Northeastern Comes To Town and beat you guys by 60. You will be lucky if you advance the ball past Midfield. You guys are Dreadful, and that's being nice. You are right that Edenton will be Gates County but they should because they have a bigger pool of players to choose from.
You better enjoy that win over a 1a team because it will be one of the few that you get this year. If you guys played Gates County again I can promise you that you would lose and I think you know that.
Exactly. We got a win finally. Let me be happy. Our program has been down for years. We do have 2 3a state championships. And our championships aren't watered down like they are today. Lol. You say they came out flat. That's just your opinion from your perspective. I say overwhelmed. Not worried about NE coming to town. I like NE's program and know some of the coaches pretty well. So....
