He was always capable, just needed a coaching staff to reel him in and do the simple stuff as well as put him in a good situation. His measurables have always been elite.
How many NFL QBs are ready to start and succeed their first few seasons? He was not in a good situation with the Jets, but he was also very immature and got into his own way. Sounds like aging in a back-up role has gotten him to a much better place and he is playing within himself and the system. Expecting him to be a Mahomes or Rogers (sans this year) and consistently throwing for 300+ yards a game was never a recipe for his success. Reliable run game, good to great offensive line, and 3 consistently capable receiving options can make any QB look way better. See Eli Manning.

Not a lot.
I've wondered the same. Tavon is the victim of the same problems as Geno. Went to the Rams who were very conservative. He should have been a way more athletic Julian Edelman.Geno's broken jaw and turmoil set him back with the Jets. As well as poor coaching and team. Got to give him credit for sticking it out waiting for his opportunity. He is taking full advantage of it. Now if they can just get Tavon Austin to Seattle...

This is Irvin's third time around at Seattle. They already have Bruce Irvin, seems Carroll has a knack for reviving WVU NFL careers.
First place in their Division. Seattle is far from first place in NFL.I agree that Geno and Tavon talents both were misused and underused in the NFL. SO happy for Geno this season, QB of first place NFL team! He gave me many happy days when he was at WVU.
