If Geno were putting up the numbers the past few weeks that Ryan Fitzpatrick has.......whoa......NY would be burning down. And all the pundits out there would be discussing how Geno isn't the answer. Why is this not going on with Fitzpatrick as QB for the Jets?????

The 3rd string lb didn't break his jaw after an altercation over a $600 plane ticket.. He also hasn't missed a team meeting on the road to see a movie.

Just saying its some intangibles that do matter.

I think the obvious answer is that for the first 8 games Fitzpatrick was playing adequately. Certainly not a world beater, but he played consistently in those games while Geno hardly ever played better and never played as consistently game to game. I also think the Jets current slump is not that Fitzpatrick is suddenly worse, I think its that the running game has taken a nose dive. During the first half of the season, Ivory was averaging over 4 yards a carry and 75+ yards per game. Recently though the run game has been non existent.

Ok, but all those things were in place when Geno was the QB and he got benched and ridiculed. Fitzpatrick.......**crickets**......

It's also a result of Geno being a very high draft pick Jets fans hoped would be a true franchise QB, whereas Fitzpatrick was a guy who had bounced around the league (5 previous teams in 10 years) and was picked up for a conditional late round draft choice. Adequate backup was probably seen as Fitzpatrick's ceiling when he was obtained so there is less disappointment if he performs erratically as a starter.

Not exactly. Geno Smith has not played many games as good as Fitzpatrick's first 8 and hasn't played consistently. So Fitzpatrick has done more positives to mitigate a poor performance compared to Geno. I know Fitzpatrick has more weapons this season compared to Geno's previous teams, however those a fickle fans. Like Low Mountains Drifter stated, Geno being a second round pick is, and should, be held to a higher standard than a career back-up whose 10 years in the league has not included a 3+ season stent as starter.

And how many years experience did Fitzpatrick have over a ROOKIE and SECOND YEAR Geno Smith? My point, they were not patient with Geno and that circus that was going on under Rex Ryan. Now with Fitzpatrick, they are suddenly patient???

If anyone on this poster board (other than OP) came out with the above statement............they would be barred from further participation. Here's the thing..............take a quick look cause Fitz won't be the Jets QB next time you check the stats. In the pros.............anyone that doesn't produce is history. Regardless!
