Not moving the goalposts. Simply asking for the same info I've asked for from the beginning - the names of college football players who were positive for COVID who subsequently developed mycarditis as a result. So, it's not me who is moving the goalposts. The first 2 you and vllox dug up turned out to be false alarms. In the meantime, enjoy the college football this weekend! Go Blue Devils!

So you won't believe it until/unless you have actual names, can't or won't trust statistics? Pesky HIPAA privacy laws.

And, for the record, you already moved the goal posts from "no college football players have even been hospitalized" to "give me the names of college football players who have publicly confirmed myocarditis."

You and villox came up with 2 actual names, both of whom, you contended, were hospitalized and subsequently diagnosed with myocarditis. Yes they were hospitalized, but neither developed myocarditis. So, thus far we are up to two hospitalizations and no COVID-related myocarditis. HiPAA by the way does not apply if the player consents to publcation, as was the case with the Indiana lineman and the Georgia St. quarterback, both of whom are back at practice. So, get on the internet and keep your eyes and ears open and keep us informed. I'll be following all of our local high school games tonight as well as a full slate of college games tomorrow. The real bottom line is that I think we should be playing and you don't agree. The actual experience over the next few weeks could cause either of us to change our minds, so let's wait and see what happens.

Never claimed that they developed myocarditis, just proved as incorrect your "no players have been hospitalized" claim.

I agree, you should go out, live on a campus with a bunch of kids, and play football. It's safe. This whole thing is overblown.

I'm way to old to do that, otherwise I would. Besides, I have no football skills. Presently, I'm content to watch those dummies at ND and Duke do that tomorrow. I'm sure that the carnage that will follow will please you immensely.

Amazing that the two you on here are still pining for a football game. You know , a vs. permanent illness to some young athletes.
Willy, was this meant to be a sentence? You don't think we should have football and I do. It's that simple. Tune in to some of the games tomorrow and enjoy.

My entire position is to avoid the carnage. It would seem yours is that the risk to the dummies is worth it for your couch time.

Not sure I can illicit a serious response from you, but I’ll give it a try. If the players and their parents feel the proper protocols are in place to make it safe to play why should we deny them their right to make that choice? No one is forcing them to play. Every player has the option to opt out without penalty. Two OL for Miami just did this and received no criticism whatsoever.

Could a player opt out of the requirement to be taken out of the game after losing their helmet because they “understand the risks”?

I don’t understand how anyone asking to be taken seriously can think that it’s even POSSIBLE to have “proper protocols in place”. It’s a novel deadly virus that we have precisely 9 months of data on. There IS no protocol.

We'll just have to wait and see whether the "carnage" occurs. I doubt it,Duke but I'm not the one making the decisions at places like Duke, ND, Army etc.

You don't know this and neither do I. Perhaps if you made and inquiry of the staff at the schools that are playing you could learn something and post the info here.

Terrible comparison. The reason the rule was put in place was to stop the players from showboating to the crowds and TV after making a play. Usually intentionally removing there helmet in a look at me gesture. At no point did anyone say that a player may elect to play without a helmet because they understood the risks.

That’s literally the point. We don’t know enough about the long-term impacts to know how likely “carnage” might be.

It’s a personal foul to remove your own helmet, but players whose helmets pop off during a play must sit at least one snap to ensure their helmet is working properly.

Somebody ought to alert the medical staff at each of the schools playing today of the impending carnage. Sounds like a job for villox or Fitz 51, who apparently believe the "carnage" is inevitable. At least you admit that we don't know how likely "carnage" might be.

I don’t believe carnage is inevitable. I just believe the risk is high enough because of the unknowns to be understanding why the Presidents are hesitant.

Those schools have apparently made the determination that the rewards (mostly money) outweigh the risks (player health). I have a feeling that most medical staffs are horrified at playing, but been overruled.

I would much rather come down on the side of player health.

Neither you nor anybody else, except the schools themselves, has any idea whether or not this is true. (See how nice I am. I could have simply used your line and said "Quit making **** up".

Putting your opponent on an extreme position he never stated is a poor way of arguing, but is very 2020.

I’m not. Remember how I used to actually work in college football and have friends who still do?

So what? You aren't suggesting that you have inside knowledge as to why teams like ND, Duke, Army etc decided to play are you? That would be laughable in my humble opinion.

I’ve heard some horror stories not for public consumption that make me believe anyone starting the season is a terrible idea.
