I love this kid's game. I wish we were able to get two years form him. He's going to be Cliff Hawkins reincarnated on defense. Can you imagine a defensive trio of Butler, Cason Wallace, and DeAndre Liggins playing together?

That first clip of him covering Chandler (I think) looked like some smothering defense for sure. Love to see it. Seems super likeable too so hopefully refs respect his hustle and let him do his thing.

Hope he’s this years version of Liggins. Salivating at him locking up Duke’s freshman guards. It’s gonna be nice to not be the young team at the CC for once.

I think Butler will flourish here, I really do. So many people are sleeping on this team IMO. We probably don’t necessarily have a true superstar, but this is a solid group that can shoot the lights out and play disciplined basketball.

Agree. 1998 didn’t have a star either. Just a bunch of tough, fundamentally sound kids who loved each other, never got rattled, and executed to perfection. I’m looking forward to watching those kinds of teams again.

They had a lot of fringe NBA guys and a couple who played a few years in the league. Perfect mix of experience and talent.

He brings something we haven't had in too looong a time. FF experience.
So many of Cal’s teams did not have the college game and tournament experience to truly make a run. Which makes last year even more disappointing. He had the older guys to mix with the younger. Just goes to show how poorly they were prepared for the first NCAAT game.

I don’t think Pope’s teams will have that problem. They will be well prepared for every big game.
