The people talking about it are posters just like me and you that had seen the same thing as was posted in this thread. It’s coming from the same place .No insiders have commented on it. Technically it is being talked about. But it’s no different than the posters here .
Guys, don't get me wrong, I think Braden is a heck of a player for Purdue and he's a guy I point to when I look at what Perry can eventually become, but for 1, I don't see him leaving Purdue, for 2, the SEC is more athletic and physical than the BIG10.
Yes, Ziegler and Sears pulled it off, but that doesn't mean Braden can.
Everyone else is throwing length and athleticism out there. I would rather go after longer guards with length that can play in this league.
If Pope lands Braden, I will be happy with the choice, but I will also hope he grabs another legit pg with length out of the portal.

IF Perry turns out to be as good as smith, that would be great, but he has a long way to go

Braden Smith had a long way to go too when he was a freshman. He stayed in the system and developed, I expect Perry to do the same.
I wish he shot 3’s better, but everything else looks great. Love the 3.5 STOCKS/gm.

Actually if you look at his game by game stats, Eaglestaff is a “No”, he had more bad games than good ones.

That’s why I have been talking about Wilkerson from Lamar the last week. I think he is a much better fit and player for Kentucky

I barely make time to stay dedicated to UK , I watch no other league or teams . I never heard of this Smith kid to be honest . Purdue was Purdue because of a 7”5 guy that could play . Period . And I loathe the B!G .. loathe . So I can’t suggest anyone else , I don’t watch anyone but us and that’s becoming harder ( I’m very anti NIL . )

On the high end he could be Dalton Knecht but I think there would be surer bets in the portal.
If Pope wants Smith, I’m fine with that. He’s a winner. That’s what I want in a PG, a guy that has led his team deep into the tourney. This is why I was so excited to get Butler.

Why should UK specifically need to get to know Brayden Smith.

Being from Indiana I've seen Braden Smith much more than I care to admit. If you don't want him on your COLLEGE basketball team you really haven't seen him play.
The kid can shoot, has vision, quick as hell, smart, tough and is a great leader.
He may struggle a bit defensively but if you have a rim protector you won't notice it as much.
He struggled a bit against Auburn this year but outplayed Sears and Bama. Looked good against A&M and held his own against Rutgers fantastic young future NBA guards.

We have the #1 HS class in the SEC right now..
We need at least a top 3 portal class to compliment it.
The entire SEC with maybe the exception of Vandy will be in reboot mode for 25'-26'.
None of the top SEC teams are just going to run it back next year.
Pope gets a pass this year as he should but next year is a level playing field with the other SEC coaches/programs.
Next year will be all about how well you replaced what you lost because the SEC is losing a ton of talent through graduation and early entry.
No SEC coach should be saying " they can't play with us" about UK next season.
If they can that's on Pope.
