A successful surgery and quality rehab and a player can be back and ready to do everything within 6 months as noted above (sometimes 7). But, it can also take a couple more months to get comfortable and in shape. He may not be at peak when we start practice but should be in decent shape and probably at full speed by the start of the seasons.

The other factor - which someone asked about above - is that the percentages for more injuries does go up after the first ACL tear. A friend of mine is a trainer and she has a ton of research that she's up on - so the chance of future injury is increased. But, that doesn't mean it will happen. I think he'll be in pretty good shape for next year. Praying for a full recovery and great career for him. But, there could be some issues moving forward.
