Lucas Films has fired Gina for her Instagram posts. While I can't say I agree with/believe some of things she's posted, one of things she posted was relating to hating people for different political beliefs (not sure comparing Nazis to today's culture was the smartest move, obviously, although it appears, in some instances, it's closer than it's been in America in a long time). Then, she gets fired. Ironic, huh? While Lucas Films has the right to hire/fire whomever they want, I find it hard to believe that they would've fired her if she was spouting anti-Trump or pro-green energy rhetoric. I thought she was good on the Mandalorian but that doesn't matter if you say the wrong thing, evidently. You have to be good at your job AND toe the company line. Are there examples of a conservative company firing someone who posts far-left views on social media? I'm sure there is but I can't recall one off the top of my head.

Not familiar with this but poking the woke bear draws a response almost every time.

And yeah... its ALWAYS the left doing the firing... not aware of even a SINGLE incident of a conservative firing a liberal... but I'm sure someone will enlighten me lol.

She’s been problematic on social media for far longer than just the last week. This was basically the straw that broke the camel’s back.

She was going to have her own spin-off show but Disney axed it because she started tweeting a bunch of racist, COVID conspiracy, election fraud, and numerous other BS posts several months ago. Act like an idiot on Twitter and there are consequences.

I knew wildcatboston would be quick in this thread with his usually ********. Everything is racist in his eyes, the wokest of the woke. I guarantee 75% of the country has no idea who this woman is, yet he is well versed in her social media postings and has in fact deemed them racist, big suprise

I haven't looked at any of her social media posts on any platform, but please cite some examples of her "racist" posts. were they really racist? or were they the new "woke" definition of racist, which is basically anything someone on the right happens to say that doesn't fall lock step into the Critical Race Theory nonsense.

He has been getting his marching orders all day. And lol at twitter consequences, have seen numerous examples of Disney being ok with much worse not to mention how they suck off China. Never surprising though when people are cool with one sided bullying when they think their side is benefitting.

She acted like an idiot because the powers that be disagreed with her? Like it or not, there were several statistical anomalies associated with the 2020 election. I'm not saying the election was stolen (I don't think it was) but there were historically unusual anomalies there were never investigated in this most unusual election. In some cases, all the corroborating evidence was quickly destroyed. If the tables were turned and Biden had received 10 million more votes than previously, had carried 18 of the 19 bellweather counties (some by double digits), etc. and still LOST - you don't think the Democrats would have investigated every precinct? They did dispute Trump's original victory for 4+ years and created a false Russian collusion narrative in order to continue that narrative.

How many anti-Trump tweets (that have proven to be 100% false) have been ignored or worse, retweeted/agreed with/laughed at? I agree that social media is a stupid place to express your political views but some celebrities urged killing Trump (as a joke, of course, supposedly) and there wasn't any blowback. Maxine Waters urges people to physically confront Cabinet members in public places and not a whisper. I mean, I know your political views but can you not see the hypocrisy going on here? Or are you OK with suppression of the First Amendment if it means suppressing those who disagree with you or the ones currently in power? That's a dangerous and slippery slope, imo.

Again, LucasFilms is free to employ whomever they want. But, don't cover up the reason for her firing by claiming her tweet was anti-Semitic. It wasn't. It was anti-groupthink and was quickly squashed by groupthink.

Her character was terrible imo and an obvious benefit of wokeness. It definitely deserve its own show which was exactly what it got before she was cancelled.

So wokeness giveth and taketh away in her case.

For good disney comparison look at pedro Paschal and also James gunn. Paschal had a much more ridiculous tweet on the same subject matter. He was applauded instead of cancelled. Gunn probably deserved sex offender counseling after his tweets, but he was reinstated and all is good.

Its absurd. Now the absurdity is admitted and embraced

It’s not suppression of the first amendment when it’s private enterprise. First amendment doesn’t apply to private businesses.

For the same group that likes to whine and ***** about law and order until they are blue in the face, they sure are ignorant over what the laws actually are.

Unless of course you are Bubba Wallace where he has called Trump supporters numerous names over the last year and yet is being promoted to the top of NASCAR.

I don’t pay attention to NASCAR. If not for the noose thing I never would have heard of him before and haven’t heard a thing about him since then.

They can fire her if they want, but they should also fire Pedro to be consistent. That’s is all.
I actually like the show and don’t want either to be fired because I can separate politics and entertainment.

Never accomplished anything in the sport except a couple top 5s and an segment win in the All-Star race open for those who have to race their way into the main show. Spins out on purpose to cause cautions screwing up the outcomes of the race for $$ and the hoax you mentioned.

Same about the separating politics stuff. I used to watch whatever that show is Tim Allen has now. I had no problems laughing at some of his political jokes despite disagreeing with his politics. Haven’t watched it since shortly after it was revived because I just got bored with it and didn’t like the Mandy recast.

All of this talk about Cancel Culture raises the question that if the Cancel Culture starts a Club would Boy George be the frontman?

FFY... I think... heck, I'm not even sure... I can't keep up

I guess it can be both. I work for a financial institution and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac have a new loan application that is coming out starting March 1st. We've had to answer the sex of the borrower question for years but with the new application the options are Male, Female or Male and Female. I guess they had people like Boy George in mind with that one. 🤣

I understand what the First Amendment is and what it protects. I also understand blatant hypocrisy. If most media/entertainment/news outlets purge any and all thoughts that diverge from their political leanings, is that not a cause for concern? Was Maxine Waters' urging of physical confrontation Free Speech? Was it OK for AOC to encourage employers to make sure Trump supporters and administration personnel couldn't find gainful employment? Was Is it OK for Twitter to censor a national newspaper like the New York Post for a news story about Hunter Biden's shady dealings, which he's currently under FBI investigation for, just because they can? I believe that there is an enormous amount of censorship and open hostility going on especially towards dissenting thought from the current political leaders. I find it very disturbing and even more disturbing that those on the Far Left don't. Where does it stop - when we start rounding up conservatives and putting them into camps? Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

Her mistake was being white, and not being gay. Also, she should have lied like Joy Reid and said her account was hacked. Of course, Joy had an advantage.

Funny. I thought she gave off a huge lesbo vibe on Mandalorian, and was sure she was. Never heard of her until the show. The younger, pre-fatty phase pics above are pretty hot. Today, a little chunky, but still would.

Both parties are guilty of using nazi, fascist, socialist to describe the other party. That’s always a losing argument, since the user never understands any of those terms. Also, I’ve yet to meet or hear from anyone that uses some in their argument that isn’t either an overt or closet racist.

I don’t think you’ll find any modern Democrat accusing a Republican of being socialist lol. At least not within recent years.

Didn't the Dixie Chicks get cancelled by the right wingers in country music for publicly stating they were ashamed of George Bush? IIRC, it pretty much ended their career. And Colin Kaepernik . . .

But honestly, I pretty much agree with most of you in general that all this PC stuff/cancel culture is BS, on both the left and the right. If you are a good ball player, or musician, or actor/actress, that is pretty much all your employer should care about.
