Tom Brady can't even hit receivers on his ***. Might wanna hold all these "this guy should be the qb" comments until we get a decent O line..
That isn't what anyone said. The premise was whether Hoak should replace Johnson as the starter. So what y'all are saying is that if SJ gets injured, we play Wright or Mattingly. Got it.
Agree, but still seems like Johnson is getting hurried and flushed out of the pocket more times than not. Rarely do you ever hear "johnson with all day to throw"...Honestly the Oline has been doing pretty well lately. You know cuz theres no Schlarman hate posts going. Against Vandys big line they did good. Which is kind of weird to say about our Olinne.
Hoak isnt the answer either. He may be in the future but I am against throwing a freshie out there midseason, burning a RS just to see what he has got. We should accept that we dont have any optioms at QB right now besides SJ. Sadly.
O line was ok last nightTom Brady can't even hit receivers on his ***. Might wanna hold all these "this guy should be the qb" comments until we get a decent O line..
I don't think the premise is that Hoak should replace Johnson as the starter but someone should be ready to take snaps in a non emergency situation(no injury) we should be willing to change QB's if the situation dictates change. We have 2 weeks to make that decision,it should not be a shoot from the hip call mid-game.That isn't what anyone said. The premise was whether Hoak should replace Johnson as the starter.
The premise I was referring to was not burning Hoak's RS. OK, if not, then what? That isn't what anyone said. The premise was whether Hoak should replace Johnson as the starter.
I doubt a change that burns a QB's RS mid-game would be shoot from the hip but a pre-planned viable option if things were not going acceptably.I don't think the premise is that Hoak should replace Johnson as the starter but someone should be ready to take snaps in a non emergency situation(no injury) we should be willing to change QB's if the situation dictates change. We have 2 weeks to make that decision,it should not be a shoot from the hip call mid-game.
I agree, that was my point ,the decision need to be made in the upcoming 2 week time frame.A # 2 QB should be in place and ready to go with no doubt as to who it is(Hoak,Wright or Mattingley)I doubt a change that burns a QB's RS mid-game would be shoot from the hip but a pre-planned viable option if things were not going acceptably.
Not necessarily,Johnson was brought here to back up Barker,so far that has been his role with two weeks of time and depending on Barker's status for the rest of the year the coaches have to come up with a plan as to how to get thru the season. Hoaks status (redshirt) was dependent on Barker and Johnson being #1 and #2 that may or may not be the case going forward. If he was better than SJ right now he'd already be playing.
yes, there are stupid questionsI want serious replies to this only..so drainthat tub and screwduke get lost....why do you guys worry about burning his redshirt?? All our QBs are in different classes and thats what you want...burning his redshirt doesnt hurt us in the least
I havnt seen the kid play any college football. Ill take the coaches word on him. If he's not ready, he's not ready.
Gunnar Hoak is redshirting. I like his tools, but he was a fringe top 50 prospect in the state of Ohio. Those who actually believe Gunnar Hoak can save the season are displaying what you don't get about college football. If Danny Clark and Jarren Williams take UK scholarships, watch what happens to Hoak.
I believe you when you say you want serious replies to that question.I want serious replies to this only..so drainthat tub and screwduke get lost....why do you guys worry about burning his redshirt?? Not saying hoak is ready or not but are you referring to the same coaches who didn't think Benny snell was ready to play the first few games?
Stoops announced before the start of the season that Snell would play and not be redshirted. Not saying hoak is ready or not but are you referring to the same coaches who didn't think Benny snell was ready to play the first few games?
Man, every HS qb that gets recruited to play QB in college looks good against HS competition. Johnson looked good throwing the ball against NM State. Against better competition the game speeds up and decisions have to be made faster. It is a different game.I don't think what is being said is that he's a five star and needs to play. Seeing his HS films he can throw the ball better than what we're seeing. We have no clue, but as fan's we are curious as to what he can do. And if he can help the team.
If you knew anything about college football, you would.Who cares about the friggin redshirt
Spoken eloquently, but will require translation.I doubt a change that burns a QB's RS mid-game would be shoot from the hip but a pre-planned viable option if things were not going acceptably.
