Kicking around the idea of getting my 12 yr old girl a go kart. She wants a dirt bike but I don’t really like the risk.

The use would be on grass and dirt trails.

The only thing I know about go karts comes from getting kicked out of Kart Kountry in Shepherdsville and from little ****** ones as a kid.

We bought our daughters a 150 XRS a couple years ago. They were the same age as your daughter. They love it.

Had both as a kid. I had the go cart till it was determined to be a death trap after 5 days. I had a dirt bike for 5 mins when a friend decided he was going to go over the hill on it and the chain ended up in a tree. Didn’t have much luck with either.

Go-karts are fun because they’re like smaller versions of cars. They look like cars and have a steering wheel with a gas pedal and a brake pedal but they don’t go as fast as a regular car. When you hit the gas pedal they make a loud noise and accelerate forward.

I had a go cart as a me and loved it. Mom hated all the marks that it made in the yard as I did my best Dukes of Hazard driving.

My cousin also had one. He nearly took his head off when he drove it full speed under a parked truck. This was obviously before role cages were a thing.

My grandson has one. Just a yard Kart, 6.5 hp, he has a ball. I love to work on them, may start buying some and flipping them. Used to drag race a lot, can't afford that after retiring, don't have paddock money.

Had one when I was around 10.

Ran the tires off of it in the church parking lot up the street.

They’re safer, sort of than dirt bikes but not as much as you’d think.

What about a mini-bike?

I own one. It was my girlfriends as a child. They are ok but the one I have has no shock absorbers and it hurts like hell.

If you want her to have comfort and be safer, go with the kids razor. Expensive though.
