Have a consultation next week to get the ol' vasectomy. Any doctor recommendations in OKC? Been looking at the no scalpel procedure by some guy up at Mercy, suppose to be less painful/recovery time.
Any pros or cons you guys have experienced? Any advice?
Looks like most people never have any issues. I've got 3 boys (5 years, 3 years, 4 months), so we are finished having kids.

If I could do it again I'd be totally knocked out. The local anesthetic didn't numb one side. It happened to be the 2nd side so I took it sensationalized because I wasn't coming back again. It looked like a murder scene when I got up from the table.

I'm glad I did it. Just should have been fully under.

They gave me something to take before I came to the office to make me woozy by knife time. I promptly threw it up. Doc said "No big deal."

He gave me a bunch of locals. Nothing went numb. Gave me more. Still nothing. After the third round, he asked the nurse to hand him the vial she was drawing the local from. It was saline solution. She turned red, left the room. Never saw her again.

Just to show I had no hard feelings, I told the joke about the guy trapped in a burning car wreck. EMT's told him they needed to cut off his foot to free him from the wreckage or he'd burn alive, but they didn't have any pain killers.

"Aw, just cut it off," the guy says. "I've experienced the worst pain in the world, you can't hurt me." They cut the foot off. Guy never even grimaces. On the way to the ER, they guy is talking about the weather as though nothing had happened. EMT's finally asked what pain he had experienced that allowed him to be so nonchalant about his injuries, especially the cutting off of his foot.

"Oh, I went bear hunting with my brother-in-law once, and just about sunup I needed to go to the bathroom. I squatted behind a tree and a bear trap snapped on my scrotum."

"OMFG!!" The EMT's were beside themselves just thinking about the pain.

"Nah!," the guy says. "THAT wasn't the worst pain in the world."

"Holy ****!" the EMT's exclaimed. "What could possibly be worse than THAT??"

"When I got to the end of the chain."

The guy holding my scrotum and all the possible future little AB Jrs. in his hands never even cracked a smile. That's when I lost all confidence in him. As I left, though, he reminded me that he had told me what to do to keep myself from swelling up like two purple footballs.

That was on a Friday. I went back to school Monday. No problems.

I used Dr. Shea Samara in OKC. He was great. Gave me a script for a Xanax or something similar to reduce anxiety. I have never taken one before, and it got me loopy as hell. In and out in 30 minutes, played in a golf tournament 3 days later. I was giving play by play to my friends via text with my feet in the stirrups while it was going on.

Used Dr. Holzer in okc. He looked 13, but did a great job. Only thing I would have done differently was to fully do what they told me post op. I didn't ice as long as they told me to. Went to work the next day and the following night was in some pain. Fully recovered in 3 days. Took a Xanax before I went. Procedure lasted all of 5 minutes. Only bad part was the smoke I saw rising above my jewels. Other than that, easy as pie.

Can anybody recommend somebody in Tulsa. I'm pushing 38, already have 2, and don't want any more.

I had VA do it. They knocked me out, which I wasn't expecting. I was expecting in and out but they booked so many the doc just knocked everyone out and made a conveyer belt.

I had purple softballs for several days. Doc friend of ours said honestly no rhyme or reason who has issues and who doesn't. When I was stationed in SA I had 2 guys that went in the morning and we played ultimate frisbee that afternoon.

Just follow your instructions even if you think you done and ask if you can have something to help you relax/sleep after, like a low dose of Valium or phenagran. Ice is vital, buy you a couple of the freezable blue gel packs that are like 3x8 or so and you can rotate them. Otherwise you be wasting a lot of peas.

I was layed up a full week. It took almost an hour and it looked like he butchered a pig at the floor of my table. It felt like the ending scene from Braveheart.

Piece of cake. Had mine Friday, December 21, 2012 and got a late Christmas present on the morning of December 26, 2012. For some reason I've always been a fast healer. Absolutely zero swelling and very little discomfort.

Geez guys, I just read some of your experiences. Damn!!!

Mine was over in less than 20 mins and I didn't even take the Valium prescribed.

I did however, have a whole lot of pain after a few days.

He told me I'd feel fine but not to be active. I did not listen. I wish I'd have listened. You should listen!

Had mine done last May. I did it on a Thursday and went back to work on a Monday. Kept them on ice for most of the three days. Did very little at home. No swelling, minimal pain. Only had a local at the Drs office. I used Dr. Sam Little at urology associates in the city.

Good luck.
