First off, Edgy, you should have an EdgyTim Golf Outing....

Secondly, I live in the city and the city courses aren't in the best of shape so I travel to the burbs to Golf. I usually go to Glencoe (my favorite), Maple Meadows in Addison (I think), Sportsmans in Northbrook, Carriage Greens, Ruffled Feathers and others.

Where do you guys go and where do you recommend? Thanks.

I think an Edgy Golf Outing would be awesome. Please consider it! Lots of great courses out there like Old Orchard, Blackberry Oaks and Bolingbrook. Can at times get a great deal through Golfnow.com for Old Orchard/Blackberry Oaks. Love the new design at Mistwood, but too damn expensive--a once a year experience.

A great course--bang for the buck kind of thing--I discovered this past year was St. Andrews in West Chicago. Two courses that were well-kept with wide fairways and quick greens. I know it's not a "central" location, but I think St. Andrews would be a great place to have this outing.

Big Run, screw that, now for sure I'm driving the beer cart.
I think they have like three holes that are about 900 yards, or it felt like it to me...

White Pines....narrow course, gives me nightmares. Yet I keep going back.

I forgot about Old Orchard. I like that course. It's scoreable but not easy. All you have to do is hit your driver straight.

So when is The Edgy Invitational?

I think I got my courses mixed up. Never played Old Orchard, but played Orchard Valley many, many times. Great course for a great price on GolfNow.com. Love the drivable Par 4's on # 1 & 10.

Agree on Orchard Valley. Someone else mentioned Ruffled Feathers...bring a couple of sleeves.

Big Run is solid in the southern suburbs, love all the hills. Gotta give the north some love too...

Bowes Creek & Highlands of Elgin
Blackstone (although it's a hike out to Marengo, it's a hidden gem)
Thunderhawk
Makray

I like to stay local.
stoney creek, hickory hills cc, waters edge.
are they great courses not sure, very doubtful but I am not a pro so for the money they are great. and the once or twice a year that I go out they work for me. I can honestly say in the last 4years I have golfed more in different states than I have here. on vacations.
but, It would be great to actually have a little face to face with you mugs and throw back a few beers along the way. but, I like my cart driver to be brunette, blonde, red, even nowadays blue highlighted tints 38,30,38...hahaha. great idea tho on the outing nice I like it.

Hickory Hills could possibly be the worst track in chicagoland.

godfthr, i dont doubt it. it was not great when I played it.
we used to only bring 3 clubs with us.
1driver, 1iron, putter. and we tried to always play it as a par3.
made it challenging
