That is some pretty strong company. I know Scheffler has been on fire of late, and Rahm, Dechambeau and Koepka are super players as well, but when he is hitting on all cylinders, like last week, still think Rory is the best player in the world at the moment.
Watching the Phoenix Open. What the hell is Ricky Fowler wearing? He just come back from duck hunting or deer hunting. What a joke. And last week Jason Day had on a pair of extremely baggy gym/tv pants that looked ridiculous. Tour just letting these guys dress however they want? Looks like crap.

But we still got one more record he wants pretty bad. He’s tied at 9 with Bobby Jones at 9 USGA wins.
Look for Tiger over the next 5 years to try and get that 10th at the SR US OPEN.

I am watching the Phoenix Open and I am telling you these guys take way too damn long to hit a putt. Put ‘em on the clock while on the greens and if the don’t putt within a certain time given , add a stroke as they walk off the green. That will stop that ****. It’s ridiculous.
Recent results indicate that Euros may be a tough out in Ryder Cup at Bethpage this fall. Very hard to win as the visitors, but not impossible. In addition to Rory, and now Detry, Hatton has been playing great on DP and LIV, and don't think you have to worry about Rahm. Plus McIntrye, Lowry, et al, they will have a really strong team.

The longer this goes, the fewer folks who would be eligible to come back. Even fewer who you would want back, given a lot are past their prime.
No one is missing Talor Gooch, Carlos Ortiz, Joaquin Niemann, etc. and the guys you do miss are really no longer contenders, save Bryson and Brooks.

Agree, sponsors aren't going to put up $10-20M so that top players can play anywhere they want. They need to get something for their sponsorship cash.

Golfweek just published the public filings of LIV golf for 2022 and 2023. Revenue increased from $4.9M to $37.1M, but losses in 2022 were $244M and increased to $394M. The magazine estimated that PIF "investment" may grow to $5 BILLION by EOY.

Guessing they're hedging that with Jay asking Trump to help out that there is a merger that goes through and LIV becomes more valuable.
I agree, I don't really get this. It seems like people with stupid money just spending it stupidly but Jay has also handled everything terribly and if LIV/PIF get any type of ownership of what PGA Tour gets by way of TV contracts or even influence on the board, it probably ends up being a good investment for PIF.
The PGA Tour believes it has an ally in President Donald Trump when it comes to their negotiations with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund to reunify men’s pro golf.
A potential merger had been almost ground to a halt by the previous administration’s justice department. The PGA Tour hopes the Trump administration will have a more favorable view of the deal and that the president can help hustle that process along.
Commissioner Jay Monahan and Adam Scott met with Trump last week in Washington, D.C., to discuss the negotiations, and Tiger Woods played golf with the president on Sunday.
Count Rory McIlroy among those who believe Trump can be a useful tool in negotiations. The four-time major winner played golf with Trump before the inauguration and sees the president as an ally to the PGA Tour.
“It was really good,” McIlroy said of his meeting with Trump during his pre-tournament press conference at the Genesis Invitational on Wednesday. “I thought we had a good discussion. I learned that he’s not a fan of the LIV format. I was like, but you’ve hosted their events. He was like, yeah, but it doesn’t mean that I like it. So I think he’s on the Tour’s side.”

Not to mention younger guys coming into their own. Guys like Tom McKibbin, Vincent Norrman, and a kid I think will be a star, Rasmus Hojgaard. Rasmus, with that name, he can't fail.
.Yeap. Both are very talented, in their early 20's, bright future for both. I watch a ton of DP Tour tournaments (the early morning starts US time helps), I see a bunch of young talent on the tour. Future is bright for the European side. But guys like Maverick McNeely on the US side are doing well also.
Went from making a 5 footer to making the cut on the #, to winning it. Amazing weekend for him. Great story with his mom cancelling her flight after 9 holes and staying to see him win.
It helps when you have an out of body experience on the greens for the entire weekend. Made EVERY putt he looked at en route to 64-64 finish.
Would not have guessed that was only the 9th time in PGA history that a player who made the cut on the number went on to win, had not happened in almost ten years.
The last to do so, Brent Snedeker. He finished 2 hours before the final group, final round 59 I believe.
69, in horrible weather in California, Torrey Pines maybe? Average score that day was something like 78. They mentioned it on TV yesterday.
