Looking at buying a driver this summer. I'm not a long hitter (about 250, max of 275), and tend to hit a fade more than anything (screwed my swing up years ago working a draw in, when I was locked in to a power fade drive after drive, now it's hit-and-miss). My ball flight is too high for my liking (using Cleveland Launcher right now). I only golf for about 8 weeks throughout the year now, as I got too much going on to play much anymore. My handicap has went from a 4 to around an 8 now.

Here's what I'm looking at and was told:

1. Callaway Rogue ST: was told that this driver is the most forgiving of all out there today. I was told that the spin rate is a bit high, leading to higher ball launch.

2. Cobra LTD: was told that this will have a low ball speed, and will hit low bullets off the tee. Intriguing to me since my ball flight is too high for my liking. But that ball striking was extremely important to optimize direction and distance (more than the other drivers).

3. Taylormade Stealth: was told this is like the Rogue, very forgiving, but high ball spin and higher ball flight.

4. Ping G410: was told that this was a good choice that was in-between all the others, but not as forgiving.

I have the G410 but I'm just a hacker..if I hit it 230 now I'm lucky....my pro hits the stealth and kills it........how are you ?....long time no see

First, why not go to Dicks and get fitted? I'm assuming you aren't a member anywhere. If you can't find a driver that optimizes your swing, you aren't serious enough. No driver "spins" it more than the other. It's about loft, speed and flex. I have a stealth and it's fine. I have hit the Titleist TSR3 and it's hotter than my Stealth. You should be able to get on a monitor and see which one is best for you. Ping has out the G430 now so not sure why the G410.

I guess I'm trying not to spend too much. I don't play enough anymore to justify spending a bunch. The info I got was from another person who went through the process and sampled each of the drivers and that was his feedback (based on his swing). My driver is 10+ years old and is "dead" now.

I can't help you that way. FYI, your clubface may be split. What may be good for him may not be good for you.
