I buy used pro v's. Saw a small driving range in Jeff, Ind on fathers day and picked up two dozen used pro v 1 for $16 on a fathers day deal.

Also play DT solo as well as I get two dozen used on Ebay for $13 with free shipping.

Never buy new balls.
Lostgolfballs.com. Amazing deals on Prov1's. Get their AAAA grade which are almost like new. Can get 50 for under $50. Much better than a new dozen for $45.

Had JPX irons before my TM and loved them. Those are some nice sticks and Mizuno clubs hold their value well.

I'm considering dropping my 58s and getting the 850 Pros. I want something a little more forgiving as I'm not playing as much as I was a few years ago.

I've got a set of Mizuno MX-20's that I bought new around 06. Still love those clubs and will game them again this year for awhile. I picked up the MP-14's on the cheap just to see how hard it is to hit them.

Not that much harder when you consider how hard it is to hit a game improvement iron well. Game improvement irons don't offer near the amount of slice correction as a 396 decamegahexadecepticonagonal dimpled ball with 140 compression will, but they help.

The only thing that really matters is what works for you. I go through periods where I'm hot playing with a particular ball and I stay with it...periods when I can putt, then can't buy a putt...will be crushing my driver but can't hit a decent iron...then the irons are hot but my driver is erratic. Eventually the game reverts to the mean. If I shoot a 75 that just means I've got a 90 out there waiting for me!

There's a reason golf is a four letter word.

Sounds like my game. If I'm good off the tee my irons will suck. If I'm spraying it everywhere off the tee I'll hit better irons that day. And then short game who knows.

If I get 2 of 3 working one round I'm happy. Would probably get struck by lightning like the priest in Caddyshack if I ever had all 3.

If I was really committed to getting better Id work on nothing but 50 yards in. I lose more strokes with short pitches and chips than anywhere else.
