Notably, Belleville West against ESL - Let's see who West really is.

Also, CBC takes on "national power St. John's College (4-0) out of Washington D.C.."

St. John's College is ranked No. 5 in the nation according to multiple media outlets and High School Football America has the Cadets as the No. 3 team in the country. They are the top-ranked team in Maryland. St. John's College brings a multitude of talented players including running back Keilan Robinson (5-foot-9, 184 pounds), who has verbally committed to Alabama, safety Quinten Johnson (5-11, 190), who has pledged to Michigan, defensive end Tre'Mon Morris-Brash (6-3, 230) whose final three schools are Florida, Oklahoma and Wake Forest, tight end and defensive end Brayden Bapst (6-8, 256), who is picking between Maryland, North Carolina and Pittsburgh and cornerback Aman Greenwood (6-0, 180), who has Mizzou, Michigan and Syracuse high on his list.

Eville lost to CBC 58-45, ESL 34-21 and WV 21-7.

Using the infallible transitive relationship quantifier between common athletic opponents, we will see how Illinois schools stack up against one of the nation's best.

Maybe.

I'm really looking forward to this Eastside and Belleville West game. I expect Eastside to win and I wouldn't be shocked if Eastside won easily...which is strange because I somehow wouldn't be shocked if Belleville West actually won either. lol They're 2-2 over the last 4 years and last years game was pretty close.

CBC is the best team in our area, but I gotta go with St. John's in that one. They seem to be super loaded.

Was one of those West wins a forfeit? I think so - but not lookin it up.

No, it was like a week or two before Eastside had to forfeit the rest of the season. I remember because Edwardsville was up next for Eastside. In all fairness, that was a down year for the Flyers.

Edit:
BW won 35-26 and the next week was the beginning of the forfeits.

Everyone considers CBC the best in the St. Louis area, They are good. But I think Trinity and ESL has something to say about that. If E'ville had a defense they might have won that game.

There's much to be said for all 3 of Edwardsville's losses, but in the end I DO think that CBC is the best in our area. I'm a Flyer fan, but I would have to give CBC the edge in that match up. Over Trinity as well.

CBC offense seems to be downright filthy and unstoppable, But I have not seen them play. Their defense seems to be somewhat more human though? (Again have not seen them play) but they have given up some points in some of their games - garbage time points?

CBC beat E'ville however E'Ville let during a key moments in that game. The scoring was back and forth until CBC was able to score back to back which stretched the lead to 14. E'ville was in striking distance the entire game.

Yeah, with the exception of week one most of the points that CBC has given up were with the reserves in.

Yeah, it was definitely a winnable game for Edwardsville.

I am assuming you meant week 2 (E'ville). That being said, so far, E'ville is the only team they have played that has a above average football team. No sure why some are assuming CBC is the best team in the area hands down. I personally feel that the top three teams in the area are CBC, ESL and E'ville however I think if E'ville played CBC again, the W is up for grabs. ESL manhandle E'ville up front so I am not sure how different the outcome would be in different conditions. ESL was a bone head play (Targeting on a pick 6 twenty plus yards behind the play) from being up 40 -7.

E'ville will make some adjustments and make a pretty good run in 8A playoffs.
If the game was played, Trinity (the team that played ESL) would beat CBC by at least two scores. None of CBC skill guys can run with Trinity and Trinity is bigger than CBC upfront.

Edwardsville has played both CBC and Eastside and according to the Edwardsville coaches and players themselves, CBC is the better team. Some Flyer fans won't like to hear it, but the Eville team really felt like they beat themselves against Eastside. They don't feel that way about CBC. CBC being the number one team in the area isn't exactly an unpopular opinion either. Of course there's no way to know unless everyone plays each other.

I can’t get over the **** ton of points CBC can generate from their offense. are they balanced (can throw as well as pound the rock?). Do they have speed at the WR and TE areas?

How do you think WV would stack up against CBC? Assuming WV would lose if they have a well developed passing game that is also augmented with a very good run game (can’t focus on one or the other and “cheat” if you will).

I agree with there is no way to know unless you played. My nephew is the QB for E'ville #4 and the E'ville Coaches felt the same way last year when they lost to ESL 32 to 7. I also would also ask if they beat themselves against WV as well. I am not sure if you had a chance to watch either team play as I did and I can tell you CBC is not the clear cut best team in the area. I understand the narrative as I have seen it several times before. One thing about me, I never drink the kool aid, I base my opinion on what I see.

Please don't take this as I am arguing against their opinion or yours if you actually seen the games.

CBC has a big O line and a big RB 6'2 ish 230lbs that can move. Their QB is outstanding. What they lack is speed at WR on Offense but they do have a big TE that catches everything. Defensively their front 7 is a little above average but the secondary isn't that good.

How WV would do depends on what defense they would run against CBC and how much time they can take of the clock using their ball control offense.

It's really tough to say how WV would stack up against CBC. Because of the injuries to both of the starting QB's, we really didn't get to see WV at full strength. If you forced me to pick one, I would go with CBC, but it would be no walk in the park for them. That WV defense is tough as nails.

Yeah that was a bummer - I was thinking both teams were crippled offensively (Eville more so than WV)...and then my mind jumped to......the second half will be a battle of the offensive cripples,....and I collected some hell points for that thought.;):(

I never said that CBC was the "clear cut" best in the area. I only said "the best." The gap, if any, between the top 3 or 4 teams in the area is minimal at best. Any one of the better teams can beat another of the better teams on any given night and vice versa. At this point in the season, my opinion is that CBC is the best team (by a tiny margin). They happen to also be the number one ranked team in the area and number one in the state of Missouri and so i'm not really sure that my opinion requires any "kool aid." Have I seen the games? Yes. Do I have relatives on any team like yourself? I'm not sure, but if I do then they would be Flyers as my family is from Venice and E. St. Louis. Aside from family members having attended Eastside, many of my closest friends and fraternity brothers attended and played sports (including football) for Eastside (and Lincoln). If I'm drinking any kind of kool aid, it's orange and blueberry flavored. lol

Yeah, it was unfortunate, but I guess that's part of the game though. *sigh* In the end, WV earned the victory and I'm glad to see that they've cracked the top ten this week in the AP polls.

I wish they didn’t crack the AP. I think that ranking is generous at this point.

Let’s see how they do against Neuqua part 2, Prarie Ridge (I’m less worried about that game as their strengths go against WVs strengths) but most importantly NC. The NC strengths are in areas we have struggled in some. I think NC deserves the ranking right now until WV proves they can beat them and take it away. We might only be ranked one week and then poof, right back out again:( Oh well...we will see how it goes.

I am really hoping to see a 6-3 or 5-4 Eville team play a 9-0 Glenbard East or 8-1 South Elgin in round one!! I’m taking Eville by at least 14 points against either team in the bracketology game for the playoffs!

What weeks are those games against Neuqua and Prarie Ridge? Will they be streamed?

If the Edwardsville coaching staff makes the right adjustments with the offensive line, then they should be ok come playoff time. Probably could use a little motivation as well. lol A Purdue recruit that's been out all season is supposed to come back in a couple of weeks on defense and that should really help too.

Note to all: ESL folks will call out their crap teams and occasionally overinflated the home team.

I’ve not seen any video since King - but I’ve seen the scores.

Regardless of stl area ranking, my question for the ESL faithful is this a title year?

On a 10-0 scale - 10 being most confident - gimme your number.

Neuqua part 2 is tomorrow nite (will look for the streaming link from Neuqua TV).

Prarie Ridge is next Friday (home game) and WVTV will stream it on YouTube channel.

I think Eville will be more than ok come playoff time. There are a handful of questionable teams that will be in the 8A playoff field this year. Maybe more than in a normal year.

Gheeeezuz! Upon further review, I think that CBC is in for a beating tomorrow afternoon Crusader. St. John's schedule is brutal. Saw some video clips too. Yikes! Seems like they're in a completely different class than what we've got in Illinois and Missouri. Gotta give CBC credit for at least scheduling this one though.

Doubt ESL allows a stream - they seem to avoid giving film of their games - except the big ones, behind pay walls.
