Defense played great against an average UK offense. Our offense struggled but looked ok. We really didn’t learn anything new. Also didn’t learn much about who the real national championship contenders are. That’s still wide open. Gamecocks and the taters aren’t in that conversation. Let’s build on this win and go forward.

Yeah, we are lucky their quarterback completely sucked. He’s just way over his head. I am sure that would be the worst quarterback we play this year by far. The defense played very well, but a slightly better quarterback would not have made some of the terrible decisions he did. Offense…ehhh. I was encouraged to see some more vintage sellers than we have. But discouraging to see us continuing to waste plays on terrible running calls.
We learned that Fuller has to be more integral.
Have to agree. Have lost confidence in this offense and competition gets much better.
Also disappointed in continual mistakes (kicks out of bounds) and 60 something yards in penalties.
I posted this in another thread, but I think after watching Fuller run, it's not just the offensive line that's been the problem. The other backs seem to try and juke and run side to side in the backfield too much instead of lowering their shoulders and running downhill. Having a 220 lb back like fuller seems to make a difference. He runs downhill and seems to drag defenders with him forward. He should be the starting back from here on out and I wouldn't be surprised if our running game improved.
Folks.......brace yourselves for 4-8. We have an OC that I wouldn't hire to call a middle school offense, an OL coach that can't get 4 & 5 star recruits to even be a competent OL, & a defense that CANNOT stop the run.

I don't think we beat an elite team by any means but we started getting in the backfield and getting sacks and stopping run for most part after the first quarter. They broke off a few decent runs but nothing like the first drive where they went down and scored right away. Defense was fired up last night.
How long did they stick with Joyner before they figured out the transfer from Newberry was better?

We gave up 108 yards rushing, take out sacks and we're around 130. 54 of those yards were on the first drive (which is half of their rushing yards). I would say we did a pretty dang good job at stopping the run in the second 56 minutes of the game.
I have no complaints about the defense, but I wonder how much we were aided by their QB being so terrible.
No. He started last week against Eastern Michigan. Played 2 drives against Ole Miss too.
He was terrible though. Very obviously rattled early on. Made some pretty dumb decisions which I don't think a decent QB would make.
I'm not saying he wasn't terrible, but also he was pretty calm and collected in the first quarter. In which they scored 10 of their 13 points. We got to him in the second. We started stopping the run and got pressure on the QB. Garrett Nussmeier looked pretty similar against us in the first half last year too. And he's a projected top 10 pick.
I think at some point we need to give our defense some credit and stop crapping on our team every single time we post. It's overplayed.

I've credited our D in multiple posts. Reality is, that UK QB may be the worst QB we face all season.
As with many others have stated on here, the win was nice, it's just hard to know how much was due the level of competition and how much it translates to our future games.
KY will be the 16th place team in the SEC. Grain of salt.

Every post here you've maybe given them an ounce of credit, but they've all been backhanded.
There's a shot we've started to figure some things out. This is JT Geer's second healthy game all year. Opposing offensive lines now finally have to account for another rusher. Is their QB Patrick Maholmes? No. But there's a good chance that our offense made him look that bad, and not 100% that he's the worst QB that we'll play. He looked terrible because we were able to limit the run and not let them get in any rhythm.
