Julie was a mistake from the get go, she simply was unprepared for the pressure and the media nor was she attuned to the needs and/or workings of a major university. .

JH was a PC hire. Better candidates were roughed-up and dismissed. She never seemed comfortable in the job. She seemed more like a coach type than a bureaucratic AD in a major media market. I could see her better as coach of the Wyoming Cowgirls (where she spent 2 years) or some other more rural place. A better AD would have pushed to get rid of Flood last year instead of just firing his staff and bringing Flood back for the very predictable 2015 nightmares.

" A source told The Post that Julie Hermann was a given a free pass on questions regarding the NCAA’s new Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender-Questioning (LGBT-Q) guide, whereas candidate Sean Frazier was skewered by questioning so hostile from one member of the Rutgers search committee it necessitated a letter of apology to Frazier, a deputy athletic director at Wisconsin"

PC Hire^^

When Kate Sweeney is co-chairing the search and working everyone over to make sure a PC hire happens, you knew it would end horribly.

Thank God she is no where to be found now. You can throw in social worker Richard Edwards too. How these people became the head of an AD search committee is PC'ism run amok.

The title of bac's thread kind of reminded me of the "Goodbye Norma Jean" lyrics to "Candle in the Wind."

What a load of crap. And for the way you abused and attacked everyone who voiced the simplest criticism of her, you, Bac deserve to have your nose rubbed in this for a long time. From Day One she embarrassed Rutgers publicly and gave it a black eye from which it still hasn't recovered. She repeatedly lied and was caught lying on the record so many times she couldn't even talk directly with reporters. Her botched attempt to replace Flood earlier did nothing more than doom Rutgers' recruiting for the remainder of Flood's tenure. Then to correct it she gave him an extension which made his eventual termination even more expensive. Two separate prior instances of horrible judgment on her part should have gotten her the door to begin with. Even after those were ignored by the administration she next claimed to speak to an athletes' parent and then couldn't say for sure who she spoke to. We had to listen to an outside minister come in and "mediate" between her and the parents. She even screwed up a no-brainer like having Eric LeGrand as a commencement speaker. Even now there are further questions as to whether she screwed up oversight of the athletic department's drug testing program, possibly exposing Rutgers to NCAA sanctions.

Yeah she was "your girl" alright, that was always clear. But the way you accused anyone who disagreed with anything she did as being a misogynist or a homophobe was disgusting. Your thinly disguised excuses in this thread continue the same, as you like to say, "agenda driven" prattle that you've spewed for the last two years. Thankfully Rutgers has moved on from this nightmare. Whether you ever will is open to question.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That cult here that referred to our AD as "Julie" as a term of endearment and refused to see any wrong in her missteps were part of the problem. Their agenda was not always what was best for Rutgers and Rutgers athletics; theirs aligned more to the the Kate Sweeney crowd and her "we did it!" war cry.

Julie was an ad who actually knew sports and came from the athletic world, which is probably why her one hire turned out well. We've had a habit of picking administrator types for this position and not only has their lack of athletic experience resulted in one disastrous hire after another but they've even bombed out administratively. I hope this guy at least is well-connected and can keep those dogs at bay.

A good portion of the blame should go to the search firm, which neglected to thoroughly research her background. Considering the reason Pernetti was fired, hiring someone with abuse charges was the absolute worst thing that could have happened. She further caused herself harm with comments about the wedding video and Tyree. It's not Kansas here.
The search firm did their job with the other canidates, but not Julie
she was a add on because of her political connection.

No, problems, Herman walked into a mess, got off to a bad start and was handcuffed. Wrong place and wrong time for her. I think she is sharp enough and in the right situation will kick butt. I wish her well.

Yep, this.
